Note

Absolutely beautiful day. Didn't get out for any exercise, though. Partly because my motivation was flagging because I can't breathe due to all the wagreed pollen. But Nancy and I took my parents out to dinner tonight to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday, which was a fine time indeed.

Unicycling 59:37 [2] 5.12 mi (11:39 / mi)

Highland loop, then down to the lake, both sides of the hammerhead, and back up. This is the longest ride I've ever done by a bit, but not the longest nonstop because I had to remount at the end of Highland. Pretty windy out there, and kind of gusty, but I managed.

Strange AOWN moment: coming back up Gilchrest, a chipmunk fell out of a tree and landed in the middle of the road a couple of yards form me. He must have had a drop of at least 20 feet, but being a lightweight and resilient guy, he quickly scampered off the road. Kind of like a tiny drop bear, I guess.

Orienteering 1:26:26 intensity: (1:11:26 @1) + (15:00 @3) ***
spiked:9/9c

Bus driving for Barb's Jr. High Team Challenge activity. A little high-intensity running at the beginning when I realized that the codes on a couple of controls were swapped, and I ran back and forth to get them straightened out, then had to hustle to stay on schedule, and mostly walking after that.

Canoeing 30:18 [3] 2.2 mi (13:46 / mi)

Norumbega, in Aims's J-200. Intended to do the race, but got completely busted by traffic. Took something like 70 minutes to get there from work (not counting the few minutes at the beginning when I realized I had forgotten something at the office and had to go back). Andy called when I was stuck in traffic and asked what I was up to. We decided that he and Aims would take the C-2, and they'd leave the C-1 on the car for me, ready to go. I pulled into the parking lot 30 minutes late, just as the leading K-2 was passing by going downstream. I paddled upstream, and when the first C-2s went by, I got behind a bridge abutment with the intention of dropping in behind Andy and Aims, but they arrived before I could get the boat turned around, and I started out with a big deficit. Had them in sight until they disappeared around the far end of E island, and in the process got passed by all of the other slow boats. Can't remember when I last paddled a C-1, and I've barely paddled at all this year. Aims and Andy never saw me until I arrived at the finish. At least I got out on this nice evening, don't know how many more there will be like this remaining in the season.

Note

Can't get to the chinning bar in the garage at the moment, because there's a huge tent hanging from the ceiling (drying after Sunday's rain) that's in the way of everything.
