Running in terrain 43:57 [3]

Across from the house, Lane-Horse-Seaver loop. Stayed a little further to the left on the leg parallel to Tyler, to make sure I didn't miss the friendly trail. Black flies not a problem yet, though I suspect they may be soon.

Note

Looking at the training list, I realized that over the past week, my training is just 0:01:49 less than that of Swampfox. Thought about just putting my shoes back on and running up the street for a minute, then turning around, just so I could say that I did more training than he did. But then I realized that he hasn't yet posted anything for today, so it would be both cheating and fleeting. There's actually a very tight pack at the moment, with Mikell, Susie, me, Phil, Joe, and Randy all in a row, a minute apart each.

Bicycling 1:28:35 [2]

On my mountain bike, largely on pavement, though with some trails as well. Intended to ride out to the NW corner of town and find a place to go running in the woods, but I wound up never finding anyplace suitable. Went to the post office, then out to the golf course, and up New West Townsend Rd. to Howard St. Climbed the hill on Howard, then on the way down toward Mulpus Brook, found a place to make a left into the woods on snowmobile trails. That wound around and popped out at what looked like a summer camp on West Townsend Rd. Rode N to Old City Rd., took that, then Tyler to the trailhead at 106, and rode the usual running trails to get home.

Don't know if this was level 2 or level 3. Uneven effort, and I was certainly working pretty hard at times, though at other times I was coasting. No hip pain on the bike, but my left knee was a little sore at the end.

Road running 35:28 [1]

Pretty wimpy "training", just jogging over to town hall and walking back, for the ConComm meeting. Pace on the way over was kind of a shuffle, like what you do at the end of a Rogaine when you'e on a road and trying to put out some kind of finishing effort, but it isn't really much faster than walking. Barely enough to break a sweat. The return was walking because it was dark and thus hard to see my footing, and I was on the phone.

Right hip still hurting. I think maybe I've had this before, and decided that it's Nebulous Intermittent Avascular Necrosis, kind of like the thing that did in Bo Jackson, but much more imaginary.

Running in terrain 45:05 [3]

Across from the house, Lane Pond - Horse Barn - Seaver loop. In The Dim -- wore the hatlamp in case, but finished up at 8 PM, just before turning it on would have been warranted. Hah! Got through the laurel jungle unscathed! The trick is to follow the stream until just before the swamp, then at the two boulders angle back, and that gets you through open woods to a beer lean-to. Then there's a streamered trail through the laurel, past the teepee, and that gets you far enough to break out into open woods on the right. Even with one short false lead, I still hit the trail to the powerline in under 17 minutes. Didn't actually do the entire loop, because I inadvertantly cut off a bit of the far end by drifting right when paralleling Tyler and I hit the return trail instead of the one that goes to the end of Seaver, so I just headed back.

Right hip was hurting quite a bit at the beginning (presumably some damage that I did on Saturday), so I took it easy early on, but the pain diminished and I pushed harder later. But afterwards, it hurt to walk around.
