Today is, I believe, the 145th consecutive day on which I have not orienteered. The last dry spell like this was the 160 days from Dec '87 to May '88, when I was in Greece working on the Daedalus Project. My comeback from that was the Donau Pokal in Yugoslavia, where I turned in a pair of abysmal performances and finished dead last on M19-34 (but still managed to take home a trophy for 3rd place club). I don't think it was so much a matter of being rusty as it was the simple fact that I didn't really yet know what I was doing.
I'm signed up for the EMPO A-meet this weekend, so unless something goes wrong, the drought should end tomorrow. But then, you never know what kind of unexpected things might happen. For example, I did kind of get fired today,
