Urgh. Still tired out. This has left me a hollowed out husk of a man. I'm sure that is partly because of the extra time on feet, but I think other factors include the amount of the race at altitude, the hot weather and dehydration, and the slowness of the terrain, which made the whole 'just keep moving forwards' thing easier said than done. I don't think I ever really contemplated dropping out (hard to remember), but I did spend a lot of the race questioning why I was doing it to myself, and whether the goal of UTMB was really such a good idea after all.
A few days later and I still can't bring myself to think about other races yet. Hoping that will come, along with my appetite, normal sleep, being able to stand up from the toilet seat, and some new toenails.
