Monsal trail from Hassop to the end and back with Jenny and Alex in tow on the tag-along. Gorgeous day for it and it was my first time on quite a few bits of the trail, so much enjoyed. Took it easy but still felt pretty knackered.

Extended skyline. Started very early to get back in good time, but was also lucky to beat the bad weather that came in later. Misty and humid conditions, but with the clouds wafting around and opening up from time to time to reveal some great hazy views. Took time to get going (it was 5am after all), but felt good for most of this and the wheels never fell off, which was positive. Aimed for steady progress rather than pushing it, which seemed to work better than my gung-ho ascending in the Lakes the other week. I did get through a lot of water though due to the conditions and ran out by Mam Nick. Found a stream and then refilled at the Cheshire Cheese. Used sticks most of the way...still not totally sold, but on balance I think they are helpful for this kind of thing.
