11 AM

Running 1:15:00 intensity: (15:00 @2) + (20:00 @3) + (30:00 @4) + (10:00 @5) 15.0 km (5:00 / km)
slept:8.5

Headed out to the White Horse with Steve and Barry Speake and went for a run up and down the hills. Did 5 different big climbs in total, each taking between 5-9 minutes. Pushed hard on the ups, moderate on the flat and steady on the downs. Beautiful views with a low fog hanging over the snow bound vale of York.

10 AM

Running 40:00 intensity: (20:00 @2) + (20:00 @3) 9.0 km (4:27 / km)
slept:7.0

A traditional morning run out to a specially prepared Whitehead map. To the Knavesmire along the river to run some courses. Nice crisp morning with a bit of sunshine and some light snow. Lovely.

Orienteering 25:00 [4] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)

2x short courses around a small bit of woodland and across the raceground. Very fast and runable.

Running Drills 10:00 [3] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)

Drills to wake up my protesting body. My SI joints and hamstrings are stiff at the moment and morning runs are quite uncomfortable for the first half hour or so. Stiff back too, so that is probably the root of the problem.
5 PM

Running 40:00 [3] 9.0 km (4:27 / km)

Swift evening run out along the Ings after a fine Christmas and not too much wine and port. Nice cold, clear night and ran without a torch along the floodwall. In contrast to the morning, my legs and body felt great. Made it back just in time for Dr Who. Phew.

8 AM

Running 50:00 intensity: (15:00 @2) + (30:00 @3) + (5:00 @4) 11.0 km (4:33 / km)

Morning run up Loxley Valley. Sore SI joints and threw in a few hill bounds at the end to loosen things up.

11 AM

Running 2:10:00 [2] 26.0 km (5:00 / km)
slept:8.0

Nice cruisy run with Rob out through a snowy Beely and Wharncliffe. We covered a wide range of topics, which probably means that we weren't trying hard enough. I wore my weight lifters' belt to ease the strain on my back, which seemed to help. All very enjoyable.

Note

If you haven't done so already, make sure you sign this - it's much easier than chaining yourself to a tree or living in a treehouse, which is what you will need to do if our forests are all sold off.

10 AM

Running 1:06:00 intensity: (40:00 @2) + (26:00 @5) 15.0 km (4:24 / km)
slept:8.5

Intervals around Hillsborough Park, alternated on 1400 and 1200 loops: 4.42, 4.10, 4.42, 4.12, 4.41 both loops with some substantial ups and downs. Ran at 10km pace and felt good. IW after, which didn't feel so good.

Running Drills 10:00 [3] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)

Threw in a set of drills as part of the warm up.
5 PM

Running 15:00 [2] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

To Jen's work.

Climbing 50:00 [1]

At the works with the usual crowd plus Rach, followed by yet another christmas dinner out at Relish. Climbed routes that were probably a bit too hard for me and fell off a lot, got a bit of a sore back after surveying yesterday.

Tuesday Dec 21, 2010 #

7 AM

Running 50:00 [2] 10.0 km (5:00 / km)
slept:8.0

Morning jog up Loxley, took the legs a while to wake up and thaw out, but felt OK.
11 AM

Note

Was going to go for another run, but spent over 4 hours mapping in Greno instead. Too tired now for any more training!

Monday Dec 20, 2010 #

8 AM

Running 1:05:20 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (30:00 @3) + (5:20 @5) 13.0 km (5:02 / km)
slept:8.0

Chilly morning run up Rivelin including an effort up the Coppice track. Heavy bag on the way to work, but around 20 secs off my heavy bag times from a few months ago. Some work to do, I think. Beautiful day and the tentative start of some real training.
5 PM

Running 1:05:00 intensity: (35:00 @2) + (15:00 @3) + (15:00 @4) 14.0 km (4:39 / km)

Progression run HFW up Porter's and out to Lodge Moor, then back via Crosspool and Broomhill. Felt alright, but a bit slippery in places so ran in the road and annoyed the drivers.
