12 PM

Running 1:10:00 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (40:00 @5) 10.0 km (7:00 / km)
slept:8.0

Ian Hodgson leg 4 with little Rob. Mixed fortunes for dark peak on previous legs and we set off in 5th with Calder valley and Keswick within our sights. We set of hard and beasted St Sunday crag but disaster struck as we ran off the summit when Rob stacked it in a cluster of sharp rock. Terminator-like he got up and kept running in spite of the fact that he was badly damaged, but as the adrenaline wore of up Fairfield it became clear that things were not good. We made it to the marshalls at Hart crag who gave us warm clothes and spoke into walkie talkies a lot, then walked tentatively down to the finish. Good to complete the course at least, and I hope that robs cuts and bruises get better soon!

Running 1:00:00 [2] 8.0 km (7:30 / km)
slept:8.0

Gentle recce of leg 4 of the Hodgson's with Jon Morgan, who was going to be my partner until the vets' team poached him for themselves. We found a good line for the descent, just a shame we didn't make it that far the following day...the day Dark Peak stop racing themselves in vets/open rivalry might well be the day we win this race. In the end neither the vets nor the open team won their classes. I propose an all out team effort to nail the open class next year.

Running 25:00 [2] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)
(rest day)

IW in the pouring rain. I only ran because I needed to have a shower, feeling tired still and Jen is pooly, so playing it safe.

Running 20:00 [3] 5.0 km (4:00 / km)

Legged it to the Works after a department meeting.

Climbing 1:00:00 [1]

Decent climbing session at the Works, going round a new black circuit. Achieved most of them, but some were at my limit. Very tired by the end.

Running 1:00:00 intensity: (40:00 @2) + (20:00 @5) 13.0 km (4:37 / km)

Intervals in Hillsborough Park then IW. Had a good warm up including a set of drills and sprints, then ran the Hallamshire figure-8 in 3.55, 3.58, 3.58, 3.59 off 5 mins. I ran them at a comfoprtable fast pace, but it got tough by the end with a quite short recovery. First proper speed session for ages.

Running Drills 15:00 [3] 1.0 km (15:00 / km)

Good session of drills including 6x100m sprints.

slept:7.0

IW with a very heavy bag.
5 PM

Running 1:20:00 [3] 18.0 km (4:27 / km)

It was such a beautiful evening in Sheffield that I couldn't resist going for an extended run HFW. Via Porters and Lodge Moor, I was actually in the clouds for most of the run, drowned rat by the time I got home.
