Note
(sick)

Woke up with a sore throat, so went for a walk around some of the Hungarian Middle distance course with GG. Afternoon in a spa in Erger then a late journey home. The onset of a cold probably explains my fast, effortless feeling running yesterday. If only you could recreate that feeling without the negative consequences.

Orienteering race 1:25:08 [5] 16.0 km (5:19 / km)

Hungarian long distance champs B final, beautiful forest, ultra-fast with nothing on the ground except beech leaves. Got a bit carried away and ran hard, managed to get the third fastest time on the B course, although Hubmann was only a minute slower than me for 2km further on the A. That is some seriously quick running.

Running 15:00 [2] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

Warm up to the start and a slow jog to warm down.

Orienteering 54:07 [3] 9.0 km (6:01 / km)

Hungarian champs long qualifier. Woke up feeling much better today, all of the aches had gone. Went for a run around part of the course, but ended up getting in to it and running more than I intended. Really nice forest and a challenging course with lots of awkward legs around big round holes, much more fun than any of the training areas have been.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

Orienteering 30:00 [2] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)

Mmm. Maybe I overdid it yesterday, but I woke up feeling completely dead this morning. Arms, legs, head, everything aches. Thought it was just from the climbing so jogged round one of the morning courses, but that just made me feel worse. Hope I'm not going down with something...lots of sleep needed I think.

Running 15:00 [2] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

Bit of jogging, mainly uphill back from the finish.

Orienteering 50:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:33 / km)

First training in Hungary, beautiful open forest with nothing except a deep covering of beech leaves on the ground - it looks amazing at this time of year with the trees all golden and leaves wafting down in the sunshine. All very nice. Pretty straightforward orienteering though, just look up and run, the visibility is so good.

Climbing 45:00 [1]

Lunchtime climbing session. A lot of bouldering and traversing, plus I had a go at a hard route (6b?) up a big crack - got about half way before getting stuck.

Orienteering 45:00 [3] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)

Did about half of a monster route choice exercise running with John and Rhod. This was a brutal area with some massive climbs, pretty even routes for the most part. Felt dead by the end.

Running 20:00 [2] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)

To the start and back from the finish of the route choice course.

Note
(rest day)

All day travelling out to Hungary. Pretty smooth journey but long day.

Running 25:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)

Home from uni via Bolehill Park.

Climbing 45:00 [1]

Climbing at the Works with Candyman, who was putting me to shame. Nailed a few tricky ones that had eluded me last week, but struggled a bit tonight.
