Orienteering 47:30 [5] **** 11.0 km (4:19 / km)

CSC final at Sutton Park. Nice to be back after a whole 24 hours away. Felt pretty good after yesterday's effort, and managed to keep a decent pace over the lightning-fast course. A few wobbles but nothing too serious and quite enjoyed it. First SYO victory in quite a few years, finally wrestling the trophy away from OD, congratulations to Captain Tim for getting a big team out, even if he did mp himself.

This was the first time I have ever seen a fight at the finish of an orienteering event - one vet guy was really angry about something and started laying into another until a few people dragged him away. Pretty exciting, maybe orienteering needs a bit more of this kind of thing. I'm not surprised that passions were running so high, it was the Compass Sport Cup after all.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)

Wasn't going to bother warming up too much, but turned up at the start without descriptions and had to leg it back. Bit of a warm down with Jenny.

Running race 19:40 [5] 5.87 km (3:21 / km)

National 6 stage road relay for Hallamshire B team. Not a bad route around the undulating roads of Sutton Park, and a nice autumnal day for it. I was not too keen beforehand, but it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Ran leg 4 which meant there weren't too many people around, but managed to get the pacing about right and pulled up a handful of places. It was a bit of a shock to the system after a few easy weeks, but a good wake up call. The field was quality - we finished 64th out of 70!

Running warm up/down 50:00 [2] 8.0 km (6:15 / km)

Jog around the route beforehand and a couple of smaller loops after the race with Gavin and then Gareth. My legs felt pretty sore from the roads so needed a fair bit of loosening off.

Orienteering 15:00 [4] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

ShUOC come and try it around Walkley streets. Fun lunchtime blast around.

Running 30:00 [2] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)

Up to Danger's place and back with Rhys.

Climbing 1:00:00 [1]

Climbing session at the works with Jenny, Gareth and Neil, saw a few others down there too. Was expecting the worst, but paced myself OK and managed to last a good couple of hours. Avoided the hardest stuff but still managed a few decent routes. Nails was dead after track and failed to impress (although still kicked my butt on a few).

Running intervals 15:00 [5] 4.0 km (3:45 / km)

Well I did intend to go to track tonight. Had a meeting at work and was going to hop on a tram, waited 20 mins in the rain and had to admit defeat. Ran out to Hillsborough Park instead for some reps on my own in the rain and dark. 4 x my usual figure 8, 2.22, 2.23, 2.24, 2.24. Not particularly quick, but I haven't exactly been packing in the quality sessions of late.

Running Drills 10:00 [4] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)

Some sprints and drills to warm up.

Running 25:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)

Warm up and warm down around Hillsborough Stadium.

Running 40:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:00 / km)

Usual route up Loxley valley running quite fast.
