Orienteering 35:00 [5] 6.0 km (5:50 / km)

It's been ages since I've done any 'real' orienteering that's not around Venice, on a map that I made, or on Burbage in minging weather, so this was a lot of fun. Score event on Royds Hall planned by Dickie Wren. Pretty mad in a mass start of about 100 people and a surprisingly good area.

Running 1:15:00 [2] 12.0 km (6:15 / km)

Warm up for the orienteering then a run from Royds Hall to Rosie's house along the Calderdale Way. Really nice sunny, crisp day. Had an argument with a farmer when I tried to follow the footpath through his farmyard and got completely lost when I reached a wrong join on the map I had created from dowloaded bits of OS. It looked like all the roads and paths joined up but it was about 3km out on a parallel valley.

Running drills and strides in Pensford, nr Bristol. Short, sharp session on a flattish field. Nice misty morning.

Running 25:00 [2] 4.0 km (6:15 / km)

Steady run from Grandparents' house up a big hill to find a flat place for some strides.

Xmas card delivery run, not quite as complex route as Mike took, but it did involve a big hill early in the morning. Blew away the cobwebs from the Hallamshire do last night.

Running 25:00 [5] 4.0 km (6:15 / km)

Hallamshire session, Hollybush Hills. 3 sets of 3 different kinds of reps - flat and up, up and flat, then up and up. The last climb was a killer and my legs were so full of lactate that I could barely stagger to the top. Shouldn't have been fun, but it sort of was.

Steady up Loxley valley with Jen. My legs felt very flat today.

Another full-on session this time mainly with Gareth and Nails. Just about finished off the blues and had a crack at a load of others.

Track session 45:00 [5] 10.0 km (4:30 / km)

Wow this was a toughie. Strides and drills then 6mins, 5mins, 4mins x2 with two mins between runs. All very confusing with some of the runs around the outside of the track including a ramp, sharp u turns and running the opposite way around. I guess this made it less monotonous but it still felt like a long session. The two 5min reps were all on track and I was a few paces short of a 5 min mile on both of them.

ShUOC circuits, with the extra excitement of christmas music AND going clockwise around the room.

Late leaving the house so very speedy run to S10 then a run out to Crosspool with Nails and Little Rob after the session.
