Except I got a bit lost on the way there...thought it would all be OK if I just followed the Parkway, but overlooked the fact that I was actually following the A57. Tried to relocate at Shirebrook, but had to ask a kind lady for directions. The last bit was full on timetrial. More successful on the way back.

Totley Moor. Ouch. Legs still very sore, particularly quads, but thought this would be worth a try. Fast pace at the start as usual, but hung on to the tail end of the lead group up the hill. Things strung out by the trig and I was hanging on in sixth. Sort of resigned myself to slog it out around there, but I felt good on the last climb and picked up to third, which I managed to hold (just) into the finish. Not bad considering.

Headed to a different range today to take in a few more tops. From Grasmere: Great Rigg, Fairfield, Dollywagon, Helvellyn, Catstye Cam, Striding Edge, dip in Grisedale Tarn, Seat Sandal. Legs brutalised after yesterday, so a bit mincy on the descents, but some nice ridge running today. Gorgeous weather again and not much water on the route, so was fair parched.

Late drive to the Lakes last night. Found a great camping spot near Blea Tarn overlooking the Langdale Valley and ran from there. Blisco, Crinkles, Bow Fell, Scafell Pike and Sca Fell (contemplated Broad Stand but it failed the 'what would Jenny say?' test, so took Lord's Rake instead), Wasdale Head for a pint of coke, Kirk Fell, Great Gable, dip in Sprinkling Tarn, Stickle Pike, Old Dungeon Ghyll. Mostly took my time and appreciated the hills, but put some effort in up Kirk Fell and Gable. Bit knackered after all that.

Cressbrook Crawl. New one for me and unusually I got the race tactics right today. Set off hard, but lost ground and places on the first big descent, hitting the bottom in about 10th. Had some work to do up the first climb and pulled up to 2nd behind Jake Lane. I basically hung on to his coat tails until near the top of the long final climb, where I mustered a faster finish than him. Great race with some stunning views and a free pint of ale at the finish. Fastest running I have done for ages!

Burbage Skyline. First run of this for many years, and a completely new route. Started as fast as I dared, but let a group of four go with Nathan leading them out. Soon established a big gap to the runners behind me and started working on Alex Hinchcliffe, who was being gapped as Nathan strung the lead group out. Made some progress, but never quite got on his heels and cruised in in 5th. Need to be braver at the start to avoid an early gap opening up.

Liked the new route, which had lots of short sharp climbs and a few technical rocky bits. Lovely evening for it!
