stretching and conditioning exercise 20:00 [1]

Sticking with the exercises. About 4 sets during the day

Friday Feb 6, 2009 #

Note

Further visit to the physio. More of the elbow in the arse treatment. I reckon it is just to reinforce the priority for stretches. Got a few more exercises, but still no running. When I asked I got a very disapproving look, and told to get back on the table for some more glut boring, the invitation persuaded a chnage of plan. Hopefully some light jogging early next week.

stretching and conditioning exercise 20:00 [1]

Series of exercises prescribed by the physio. Hamstring curls, plus other strengthening exercises and a series of stretches.

Note
(injured)

Visit to the physio for the tight hamstring. Turns out to be a bit more serious, somewhere between a strain and a minor tear in the top 3rd. Cause by some additional stress from the tight gluts.
Physio worked on the hammie for a while and then worked on the tight hip/glut. The latter in part involved pushing his bent elbow into the affected area with enough force to bring tears to the eyes (mine not his). Not surprisingly it felt better when he stopped.
No running for a few days, but hopfully not too long.

running warm up/down 12:00 [2] 2.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

Gentle warm up and warm down for street-o. On the warm down noticed how tight and sore right upper hamstring/glut was, not a particularly good sign.

pseud-o race 39:00 [3] 8.9 km (4:23 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

Bit of a mixed bag. The first half was good and I had the right route choice. Didn't feel as good in the second half, the right upper leg started getting tight, and I think others had better route choices. Started to slow noticably over the last 2km or so.
It was a good course with plenty of route choice to break the pack up

Dancing 1:30:00 [1]

It was hot, sticky and stuffy.

Note

Running just didn't happen today. Events of the day consipred against it. Forgot to turn the alarm on so indvertently slept-in. Then a series of difficult people issues meant that the lunchtime opportunity came and went and I got stuff at work onger than I had intended. Just had time to head off for the lesson. By the time I had finished at 8:30 I was feeling stuffed.

running 1:21:00 [3] 16.8 km (4:49 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

LSR. Struggeled to get out of bed and thought about turning over and going back to sleep. It was only 20 degrees this morning, felt almost cool, after the conditions of the last week. Much more humid though. Tight in the gluts this morning. Self-inflicted from an inconsistent committment to stretching over the last week. Despite the tightness a good run.
