Day of travel back from Norway. Great week. Yes, it was a bit warm so the snow was often either icy or wet and the wind was constantly cold and annoying, but the mountains, accommodation, food and company were all great. Hope to make it back again next year.

Second part of the morning. Clare very keen to the skidoo track to Bygdin again. Got to it, had a look, and decided with Emma, Alan and Mat that it was too icy (or not enough snow) to be any fun so we headed back to the main track and let the rest go on. Still icy enough and walked down a couple of hills after some falls on the ice. Piste machine on its way but not in time for Emma and me to get to the cafe in Bygdin.

Planned a loop to the west of Beitostolen but got to the cafe at the bottom of the ski slope to be told that it was too windy on top. Wasn't a bad thing as the cafe was really nice and did excellent chips!

Clare and GD44 decided to climb the ski slope but opted out of joining them as I didn't fancy the descent if the XC route wasn't reachable. Instead had a very nice and social ski back with Emma and Matt.

After opting out of going up the ski slope with Clare and GD44 I needed to get something proper done, so headed out to explore the lit route with Mat. This wasn't up to much and wasn't groomed so headed out to the disabled loops on my own. These were in better condition and I had fun exploring. Very enjoyable couple of hours.

One way ski from Valdres ski centre back to Beitostolen. Drove to the start with Nick and Gary and skied until we meet the rest of the group heading towards us. From where I carried on (with GD44 for a few extra km) and the others turned back to the cars. Conditions great for the first hour, but the wind then really picked up (head wind) and the snow started to go soft. That with snow already on the tracks made it hard work and it got harder all day. Well tired by the end but it was a great day out.

Out to the north-east of Beitostolen today. Tracks not groomed in the morning and were hard work with the groves filled with wind blown snow, especially up on top. Lovely route though. Fell a few meters either side of lunch, which was a bit annoying (and got me cold hands). After lunch we hit some trails that had just been groomed and they were so much fun - so nice to have some proper glide! Finished by following the newly laid trails for a disabled competition that's on tomorrow.

Plan was to head to Bygdin via a skidoo track but when we got to it it was hard packed icy snow, so turned to plan B and headed back over the pass we used yesterday. A morning groom made it much easier, though very flat light made the track very difficult to see, especially on the descent. Waffles in Bygdin and a second lunch stop in a lovely hut in the way back. Added an extra loop at the end as the conditions were so nice, the first part with GD44.

XC ski to the north of Beitostolen with the MDC crew. Tracks not groomed recently after about half way and it was tough, but fun, going in a mixture of soft wind blown slow and ice. Steep descent wasn't so fun and briefly got very cold in the wind. Nice run back dropping down to the bottom of the hill and a good fun climb back up.

First loop from Beitostolen with the MDC crowd. Easy pace as a few not been on XC skis before. Conditions pretty good and tracks in good condition. Nice spot with an impressive mountain backdrop.

MDC run from Mynydd y Gaer. Lead the steady group and glad that I did, ITB was niggly after less than an hour and my quads were really tight all the way up the climb. Otherwise, a nice and social run despite there being a damp mist about.

Jog to test the legs and loosen out a bit. Trails around the edge of the Garth, got into the open to find it windy and wet so retreated back to the trees. Aside from being slow, all okay.
Entered M21E at IOC, think I would struggle with M45 atm so that's going to be interesting.

Run with rcro from Llyn Brianne. Somewhere I've wanted to visit for ages and will be back, interesting area. Route was much nicer than I was expecting following a pretty hidden valley with just an old trail in it. Have to go back on a bike. Wind was much stronger than I was expecting, and was glad to be in a valley for a lot of it, but weather otherwise actually pretty decent. Legs weren't decent though, and really did not enjoy the running side, struggling massively with tight quads. Don't think they've been this bad before so time for some serious work. Goof day out but much more tired than I should have been.

Run home from work after a pizza buffet - not as painful as I was expecting. Although my quads were still so sore that I was paying more attention to them than my stomach. About 50/50 road and grass, the latter of which was super soft, slippery and wet. One day I am going to feel good enough to actually enjoy running home.

Walk with Caitlin from Butermere up High Stile. Just managed to get the best bit of the day, just getting back before the rain. Cloud on the ridge bit though. A lot cooler and windier than the past few days - blow my hat off at one stage (was lucky to find it as it took off). Quads much happier with the walking pace.
