Bike - Road 1:04:00 [1] 20.5 km (3:07 / km)

Afternoon cycle with Anne around country roads, a few small small hills and bumpy bits. Nice.

Sunday Dec 30, 2007 #

Run - Orienteering race 1:05:40 [4] 10.1 km (6:30 / km) +200m 5:55 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons

Ash Ranges regional event. Felt right rotten throughout, was hoping to get going once I warmer up but just got worse. Very frustrating and not enjoyable. Nice enough area and a beautiful day though. Finished 10 minutes down on GG.

Warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Saturday Dec 29, 2007 #

Run - Trail 58:45 [3]
shoes: Asics Torana

Rivelin with a steep climb out. Beautiful day but still not feeling very bouncy, hill did wake me up a bit but not all that much.

Friday Dec 28, 2007 #

Strength exercises 5:00 [3]

Started a session, got a phone call and never got around to finishing. Not a very successful day in general; not enjoyed.

Thursday Dec 27, 2007 #

Run - Trail 1:10:50 [2]
shoes: Asics Torana

Rivelin Dam. Quads still very tired, slippery and muddy but not wet out and a little warmer. Slow.

Wednesday Dec 26, 2007 #

Note
(rest day)

Planning on a jog but with shopping in the morning and then heading up to see Faye in the afternoon I ran out of time.

Tuesday Dec 25, 2007 #

Run - Trail 2:07:00 [3] 25.3 km (5:01 / km)
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110

Sheffield Round Walk with Boyzone from his house. Nice loop, mostly tracks and plenty of small hills. Cold out today and my left hand froze due to a sore shoulder from climbing last week.

Strength exercises 40:00 [3]

Sunday Dec 23, 2007 #

Run - Trail 1:35:30 [3]
slept:7.5 weight:68kg shoes: Asics Torana

Redmires to Lady Cannings, Burbage, Stanage Edge and back along the conduit. Slow plod, no bounce after yesterday, cracking day though, cold, sunny and frosty apart from on Burbage which was covered in a cold foggy/misty stuff. Forgot my watch so was only for 20 minutes longer than was planning.

Saturday Dec 22, 2007 #

Run - Trail 1:58:20 [3]
shoes: Asics Torana

Long run out to the headstone via the Conduit and Redmires and back along the top of Rivelin. It did of course start raining as soon as I left so it was cold and damp for most of the run. Felt good and enjoyed it though and wasn't tired finishing.

Friday Dec 21, 2007 #

Note
(rest day)

Ran out of time, had a very unpleasant day in Meadowhell, got back later than planned and then went out for the evening.

Thursday Dec 20, 2007 #

Run - Trail 1:03:40 [3]
shoes: Asics Torana

Rivelin in the dark. Still not back to normal though my calf did feel better this evening, sluggish throughout though. Misty and cold, difficult to see even with a big light.

Wednesday Dec 19, 2007 #

Run - Trail 52:45 [2]
shoes: Asics Torana

Run from Wyming Brook with Faye and Matt at dusk - around to the Head Stone and back around Redmires. Very dark at the end. Slow, but still haven't woken up my legs yet.

Climbing 45:00 [1]

90 minutes in the Works with the Sheffield crowd. Improving slowly, but shoes were too big so kept slipping.

Tuesday Dec 18, 2007 #

Run - Trail 1:05:45 [3]
shoes: Asics Torana

Up Rivelin, across the A57 and then explored a few new paths up towards Rivelin dam. Happy to get out running for the first time in 9 days but soon felt flat and dead like yesterday - not completely better yet. Got passed by a runner along Rivelin which is the first time that's happened to me in all my visits to the valley - must have been going even slower than it felt.

Monday Dec 17, 2007 #

Circuits 45:00 [3]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110

Dead tonight, must sill be a bit coldy - couldn't do any of the arm exercises at all.

Warm up/down 25:00 [2]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110

Jog down and back plus usual warm up/down stuff

Sunday Dec 16, 2007 #

Note
(sick)

Throat still a bit sore, it's cold and I'm feeling lazy. And I'm busy. Another day off.

Saturday Dec 15, 2007 #

Note
(sick)

Nearly there now, spent the day shopping (not exciting) but generally feeling better, still a bit of a cough lurking though.

Friday Dec 14, 2007 #

Note
(sick)

Another day off, decent sleep so feeling much better, with work and the bitterly cold weather it's not a bad time to have a cold.

Thursday Dec 13, 2007 #

Note
(sick)

2.5 hours sleep, back in uni for 8.30. Can't take much more, need regular sleep (maybe I'm just too old?). Finally finished work and presentation went very well.

Wednesday Dec 12, 2007 #

Note
(sick)

Long, long day in uni - started first thing and got home about 4.30 am... Not a good way to get through a cold.

Tuesday Dec 11, 2007 #

Note
(sick)

For Fudge Cakes, ill again, have only recovered from the last cold for less than one week. Hopefully this one won't hang around as long.

Circuits 45:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 1120 07

Not many around this evening so plenty of space. Managed ok but a bit slow - feel as if I may be getting another cold :-(

Sunday Dec 9, 2007 #

Run - Orienteering race 1:09:00 [5] 10.4 km (6:38 / km) +425m 5:31 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

DVO National Event - Longshaw. Cold day in the car park but not to bad once moving through the forest. Happy enough with the run, but tired on last hill, caught a rather ill looking Nails and had a good race with him for the last few km. Map felt like it hasn't been re-mapped in the past twenty years, very old fashioned and not very accurate, nice to get out for a good run though.

Warm up/down warm up/down 25:00 [2]
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

Climbing 45:00 [2]

Spent an hour and a half at the Works with Chris and Anne in the evening, nice way to wind down after a full weekend.

Saturday Dec 8, 2007 #

Run - Orienteering race 21:19 [4] 4.0 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

SHUOC Sprint prologue. On new map of Eccy woods by OJ, it was awesome, the only bit I recognised was the road crossing! A few small wobbles of several seconds and then a off line route and a bad miss towards the end, lost maybe 50 seconds, also never got up to full speed, but that's always difficult in terrain like this. A nice course, a lot of fun and surprised to be leading.

Run - Orienteering race 19:59 [5] 4.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

SHUOC Sprint final. Had a slight lead of Nick B (20 seconds) and Nails (30) so wanted to start well, didn't, didn't see the first control behind (a very small) boulder and got caught by Nick straight away, Nails reeled us in on the long path run to 2 and we spent the rest of the race swapping order as each of us took it in turns to make 2-3 second mistakes! Did lose a bit more on one, but so did the others. Decided to push it over the hill near the end and was glad the other two followed, got the smallest of leads and kept it over the last few controls. So much fun navigating on maps like this, everything was exactly as it should be. Excellent day all round apart from the rather minging weather, especially for the start of teh final.

Warm up/down warm up/down 15:00 [2]
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

Jog to/from prologue start/finish

Warm up/down warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

Very brief warm up/down in the rain/hail for the final.

Friday Dec 7, 2007 #

Run - Road 45:40 [3]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110

Out to the end of Fulwood and back along the top in the wet and dark, got absolutely drenched by the contents of an icy cold puddle by a bus. Had to keep going just to produce some body heat.

Strength exercises 25:00 [3]

Thursday Dec 6, 2007 #

Note
(rest day)

No time for exercise today, had to finish uni work so I can have some time off on the weekend.

Wednesday Dec 5, 2007 #

Run - Terrain 1:33:00 [2]

Stanage and Burbage in the bogs and heather with little Rob. Don't know what was up with Rob but he was quite a bit off pace so most of it turned out to be a slow trot through high heather. Mild but a very cold wind and getting dark at the end. Good to get out and do a good terrain session though.

Tuesday Dec 4, 2007 #

Run - Trail 1:04:25 [3]
slept:7.0 weight:70kg shoes: Asics Torana

Rivelin in the dark, new batteries so out with he big light - much easier. Hamstrings sore from yesterday so a bit sluggish, otherwise the first day that I've felt completely better.

Monday Dec 3, 2007 #

Circuits 40:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 1120 07

Very hard work after missing last week and not doing any exercises all week. Felt really tired so took it very easy.

Warm up/down 20:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 1120 07

Sunday Dec 2, 2007 #

Run - Trail 1:04:15 [2]
shoes: Asics Torana

Third weekend in a row when I've been out and got cold and wet, hopefully it won't be four. Rivelin with Matt, clockwise along the top to Fox Hagg and then down to the stepping stones and back along the bottom. Not quite well yet but felt a whole lot better.

Saturday Dec 1, 2007 #

Run - Trail 49:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Torana

Early run with Ian and Davy, same route as yesterday but slower as Davy was struggling. Still only about 80% myself so happy to take it easy. Strange pain in the back of my left knee, think that it may be a result of climbing.
