Started the day feeling very sore from Friday, ended it feeling sore all over from another bug or something. Not as bad as last week but more than enough to eliminate any movement.

SWOC local event at Draethen, 5.2km. My type of woods; plenty of detail (mining pits) and mostly slow run, map wasn't great though. Running very slowly so no real problems other than not finding the right pit right away a few times (hard to see with the print quality) but really enjoyed it. Course was planned to make the most of the usable area and avoid the worst of the undergrowth. Have wanted to run here for a while and look forward to going back.

A bit of a rush to get there as I thought I was a bit late. Very slowly home after.

Toughmudder training with the bunch from work. Actually a run with a physical exercise about every 600m instead of an obstacle. Found the running hard enough but was totally shafted by the exercises (like 30 press-ups - 10 pull ups - 30 burpees - 10 arm dips, about 14 in total). Going okay until the second set of 30 press-ups when my body just about shut down. The punishment for failing an exercise was to replace it with a suicide burpee - which was just about as hard and made running immediately after even tougher! Still, made it round with no training so should be grand if I through in a few exercises. Blister on my heel from my now shoes wasn't welcome. Going to be sore tomorrow!

First proper mountain bike in 6 years and first since I damaged my shoulder - with Chris around Castell Coch and the Wenallt. Feeling tired (from lack of fitness) so it was dead slow and had no finesse in my bike handing (also couldn't un-clip from my new cleats so was constantly worried about headbutting the ground). Shoulder didn't like the abuse much and was the sorest that it's been for years, but it was great to be out. Just need more practice and to adjust my cleats.

HFW. Not very quick but found it quite hard work, going to take a while to feel like I can run again. This season has been complete rubbish for consistency and orienteering, have had next to none of either (being ill for four days at the end of last week meant that I missed 3 very rare local events).

MDC run from Marcross along the beach and cliffs. Cracking evening, lovely route but only half a dozen running tonight. Thankfully Martin was (72?) as it meant that I was able to keep ahead of someone (GD44 and Alice kept disappearing off into the distance)! Body wasn't really ready for this at all, still massively fatigued and my chest was really tight until warmed up.

Much the same as yesterday. Had a nice (slow) walk up a wee hill by Quillan with the parents and explored Puivert castle (surprisingly interesting and un-touristy).

Mad dogs and Irish men! Couldn't cope with the midday heat - 32 degrees - (and on top of yesterday evenings epic) and died a painful dead until I was barely moving. Body needs recovery time and some cool!

Even trail run with Greg. Poorly planned route from me saw us melting in the sun for the first hour or so, poor mapping fro, IGN saw us stuck in woods and corn fields making the run much longer than my body wanted. Toast by the end, completely drained and still feeling the effects of the trail race on Sunday. Need more recovery time now!

Run easy ride to loosen the legs out with Greg, Boyzone and Rick. Had a good TT going for a while (downhill) but we were all too tired to maintain it. Nice ice-cream stop half way. Need to get a road bike for myself down here.

Trail race up on the Plateau, 18km and 1200m. Don't think there was that much climb but my Garmin is full of water and not wanting to tell me anything (now I know what's been causing the problems at least!)

Too hot for me to race, Greg and Boyzone ran away from as I busy trying to keep my heart rate around 170 and not explode in the 27 degree heat. Made it round, can't say that it was fun but glad that I did it. Nice route and would have found it much easier had it been raining!

Good running from Boyzone to finish 3rd (on the 18km course, there was a 30km a well). Greg finished 7th and me 8th - though some minutes behind. Won 6 cans of pork pate in the raffle after...

Very slow evening trot up the hill behind the house, feeling tired from the past few days and from spending hours in Bristol airport this morning. Perhaps 20 degrees and overcast but it had me sweating - possibly the warmest run I've done so far this year!

Fun exploratory run with Jules and Mark. Lovely sunny evening but had forgotten about yesterdays rain until we hit the soggy and muddy trails. Found some nice paths that I haven't been on before and some not so. End of the road for these shoes, too much daylight visible through them, shame as they haven't quite made 900km.

MDC run on Mynydd y Gaer. Rescued by the president with a pair of shorts as I forgot mine and wasn't so keen on running in my kacks. Got given the responsibility of navigating so went exploring the Blackmill woodlands (full of brambles as an alternative to the normal loop. Some nice wee hills (which had GD44 struggling...). Excellent food after.

First road bike in over 6 months, not conditioned to this lark at all! Lovely day to be out and it was very enjoyable, but the climb out of Aberdare over to Maerdy was seriously harsh on my legs. Thankfully just about all downhill thereafter. Do enjoy long road bikes but am afraid of the bike disintegrating, depositing me helpless in the middle of nowhere!
