Orienteering 57:14 [1] * 2.2 km (26:01 / km)
shoes: Adidas

White course w/ the tots. Butterfly had Elise cracking up laughing. Looked at the ducks in the river for a while. Gavin wasn't feeling well so he pushed hard to finish. A few short map reading teaching moments along the way.

Orienteering race 1:03:00 [3] *** 8.48 km (7:26 / km) +30m 7:18 / km
spiked:17/19c shoes: Icebug

Did well again, but bobbled 2 a bit:

1- spike
2- Not sure what I did here. Hit the trail as an AP right where I wanted, but I think I just didn't have good bearing discipline going through the thick green, so I bobbled this one.
3- spike
4- spike
5- spike
6- through the opening across the marsh, deliberately aimed north going across the river, then found 6 pretty quickly despite some hesitation
7- mistook the small hilltop for the knoll, but knew that might happen...I think one of the knolls in that area weren't mapped too but no matter as 7 was still where it was mapped
8- a little womb;y through here but went right to it, spike
9- straight to it, spike
10- trails right to it, spike
11- had to slow down for horse riders, ugh, but crossed river after that, looped around the hill to a spike
12- Wasn't sure if going up the high route or coastline would be faster. Prospect of hill climb and cattail fighting made me opt for coastline, but that forced me farther west around the marsh sough of the pond than I wanted to be, and coastline was really curvy. Still not sure which would be faster, but seeing that the high route has a straight trail for most of it I'm guessing going high might actually have been a better route. spike, nonetheless.
13- trails to spike
14-Up around the pond, up the hill and spike
15- stayed high paralleling the edge and spike
16- Used the trees as goal posts, spike
17- trees and trail junctions helped again, spike
18- around spur, cos river basically straight to it, through marsh, spike
F- mostly straight to it and spike
