Orienteering race 1:04:51 [4] *** 6.97 km (9:18 / km) +220m 8:02 / km
23c shoes: X-Talon 212

Winter Pig OINK nationals Blue. Felt like I was orienteering like a champ for the 1st 16 controls. Got disorientated going to 17 and very bad route as result. Then the drama: on way from 17 to 18 I dropped my map without realizing it and then had to backtrack to go find it!! AArGH!! That definitely messed up my groove and I had a lot of trouble getting back into it. Somehow I kept ending up at control #140 instead of 139 despite attacking from multiple APs. Finally found 17, and was sloppy for next few controls, probably because I was hurrying myself too much trying to make up lost time. In retrospect I probably should have stopped to take a breather, clearly, plan the rest of the course, and then go. Still, very happy with he 1st 16 controls and yesterday as well, so it was the bounce back from the DVOA event I was looking for to end 2017 on a better note. My best O-year ever performance-wise, and first full year orienteering since the hip surgery. Success!

OINK Winter Pig national middle Red. Most at of it was good but bit off on the wrong tree going to 7, and messed up 10 a little since I initially didn't see my trail bend AP, and 15 to 16 was an interesting trap of fences everywhere. Mind was in it almost the whole time and pretty happy overall w/ how I did.

CY17 control goal count = 1,390
