Run 30:00 [2]

Easy run.

Bike 30:00 [2]

Orienteering race 45:59 [3] *** 5.3 mi (8:41 / mi) +230m 7:39 / mi
shoes: Olways

NEOC Green Y, Day 2. Much better than yesterday. No significant problems.

Note

Being sick for this meet may have been a blessing in disguise. It provided a flimsy excuse to not run blue, which in turn reduced my amount of forest running. That was important, perhaps, in allowing me to finish the weekend without exacerbating my ankle problem. I tweaked it once on Sunday, but on balance, it was pretty decent. So, I think I can start running again. I still am going to lay off the orienteering for the most part for the rest of 2008. I am aiming for one DVOA event and maybe the Traverse.

Orienteering race 1:10:01 [3] **** 5.0 km (14:00 / km) +270m 11:02 / km

NEOC Green Y. Bombed one control by about 16 minutes. Otherwise, OK.

Bike 40:00 [2]
(sick)

Easy bike, and I actually read during it. The book is growing on me fast. It does transport one back, so to speak. It hits home.

Is is amazing how doing something for 4 years can be so transformative. I won't say doing something in college will be completely transformative, but it can add a vibrant hue to the palette of one's life that might not otherwise be available.

Ironically, after my "exercise" I listened in on a conference call about the state of the Penn lightweight program which just happened to be scheduled for tonight.

Also, I came down with a cold and hit the 60 day mark of my ankle injury. Still not 100%. Perhaps 90%+.
