Went up to Le Communal for skating as the base there was really good and with the fluffy new snow it was very pretty and nice. Enjoyed it very much and the sun even appeared for long stretches of time.

I had wanted to find some flat-ish tracks, but the torrential rains we had beginning of January, had flushed out all the snow in the valleys. The small new snow cover did not build a good-enough base to allow for tracking.

Cold out and didn't dress warm enough. I think my leg muscles just wouldn't move as normally after a while as it felt like lead it was trying to move. The beginning was fine, but as I tried to explore new possibilities or options for my regular loop which is still obstructed by blown-down trees, it was mostly uphill I was headed. So when I got cold and it seemed as if my legs were not coordinated enough to run on trails, I decided to cut it shorter and headed back straight down to the car.
I really need to consider cold temps especially for my legs if I want them to stay coordinated and the muscles to function normally.
We have had the warmest AND wettest January since they started measuring! It was so comfortable to do sport outside that I am so used to heading out with no gloves or wind-proof tights. Not anymore for the moment! Which, of course, is good for our snow-situation, we received some new snow in the mountains and it is beautiful powder snow!

Went to do a little ski tour (this time WITH) my skins together with Urs. We received beautiful powder snow. We went up from Les Savagniers in sunshine and blue sky. After about 1 hour, the weather turned quickly, and we decided to head back down. The wind had picked up and it was quite cold especially after we had taken off the skins and changed the bindings to skiing (which didn't function first properly; oh, new equipment! hard to figure things out especially when the wind is blowing around your ears and fingers are freezing). Quick downhill to a Metairie for a hot chocolate and pie.
Very good outing, not very far or athletic but still wonderful to have caught the sunny window of time.
