Mountain Biking 11:15 [3] 4.01 km (2:48 / km) +5m 2:47 / km

Quick early morning ride to the quarantine.
When I got out the door, a Russian rider was just coming up and we chatted all the way to the stadium. It was a fast ride for me, but he was so much fun to talk to and I asked about his journey and his life in Novosibirsk. Incredible that he came here all the way from far away.

Bike O race 25:50 [5] 5.35 km (4:50 / km) +4m 4:49 / km

World Masters Mountain Biking O-Championships, Sprint today. I had never done a sprint on the mountain bike before and this was very tricky. Most people made tons of mistakes. Everything "came" so fast on a bike, plus we were allowed to ride through the white, wooded parts basically ignoring all the criss-crossing little trails. But it was also confusing to keep track. I made a mistake right out of the start as I wasn't quite ready yet to put the map on the holder and figuring out where I was with the suspicion that I had to turn backwards to my first control but everybody headed straight out. I forced myself to stop and to figure out which way was what. So I lost "only" about 30 sec. To 2 I found into the map (which was strangely mapped for bike-orienteering). Made a bigger mistake close to the end getting into the stadium for the last 2 controls when I followed a young Russian rider together with a line of over 10 more riders when we all stopped into an uncrossable fence and saw the flag on the other side. Rats, so typical, it's tough to keep track to these details when going full speed on a bike. Should have slowed down and re-checked twice.
Won the W65 by a large margin (over 2 min) and came in 4th when rated with the W60 as our age group "only" had 8 riders, we needed to be 10 to be recognized with a price. Such a dumb idea and de-motivating when they already have trouble getting more women to compete in bike-orienteering.

Mountain Biking 1:07:52 [2] 6.57 km (10:20 / km) +39m 10:02 / km

Riding around with Urs to take pix of some control locations and then to bike home trying to find a way along the Loiret but it was all private property. So we stopped a lot and "asked" google where we were and what we could do.
Eventually, headed to our road to go home for lunch.
2 PM

Mountain Biking 1:57:46 [2] 25.25 km (4:40 / km) +60m 4:37 / km

Another exploratory ride in the afternoon. The Loiret is a beautiful tributary to the Loire and we found some trails along the border, then we were forced out on the road again until we decided it was best to head north towards Orléans and find "our" Euro6 bike route and follow it where the Loiret and the Loire merged.
A very nice outing. Weather was ok, almost always overcast with occasional sunshine, strong westwind but nice temperature.

Mountain Biking 17:39 [3] 2.91 km (6:04 / km) +140m 4:54 / km

Riding up to Sandra and Marc's home to set the plants into the ground I bought. (I couldn't go and do it yesterday as I woke up with a throbbing thumb at 6 am and I feared a blood infection and treated it right away. It calmed down by 9am, so I was relieved. Had cut both thumbs on Monday eve while fixing dinner with a new carving knife which must have a whole different cut, so I cut both thumbs which bled like nobody's business. Matti and Lena were impressed! By Wednesday, say seemed to have healed sufficiently (one was a long, deep cut which healed faster, the other was a slice away top skin which got inflammed).
Also did quite a bit of weeding as I would like that part to be plant-eable. Almost done but has to wait now another 10 days.
Quick and good ride uphill.
1 PM

Mountain Biking 11:13 [2] 3.06 km (3:40 / km) +37m 3:27 / km

Ride back home, first making a loop to look where I could deposit the green trash, found the community bin, then looking for Kathy and Michael as somebody was at their door before heading home.

Running 48:40 [3] 5.35 km (9:06 / km) +161m 7:55 / km

A quick run, felt fast at the beginning, but in the end the time was disappointing.
Tried one of Sandra's shoes, Salomon, they felt like a slipper and fit well on my foot, but then with very little support or cushioning from the ground, I felt like I couldn't get the strength for push-offs. Would be something to work on.

Mountain Biking 1:08:59 [3] 13.47 km (5:07 / km) +370m 4:30 / km

Another uphill ride for strength training. Felt easy.
Going by Sandra's house to weed, then zoom home.
We had the grandkids for 3 days and training was impossible. But we were BUSY with activities with them.
