Mountain Biking 1:36:02 [3] 18.19 km (5:17 / km) +497m 4:39 / km

Had a 2-hour break from Matti-sitting as Urs took him to visit his mom (almost 90-yr old, and the 4 generations had lots of fun). I went on another exploratory ride with the mountain bike backside up the Gurten, over the top back down to the East halfway, then trying to find the trail keeping the elevation back towards Bern. Here, I had to walk a few times, as the trail was too hard. Then fast downhill ride home.

Babysitting Matti for 5-6 days. Boy, am I tired in the evening. Never a dull moment. Have sharp back pain again on my SI-joint. Tried exercises on the floor, but Matti would not let me. He either climbs all over me or then tears at my clothes to play with him or look at books. :-0)
Too tired to exercise!

Roadbiking 52:02 [2] 17.99 km (2:54 / km) +111m 2:48 / km

Woke up with "my" backpain again (SI-joint) and tried exercises. But the roadbiking actually was the one thing that helped. This bike is so well adjusted to my height, it's wonderful.
The little paved roads through the fields were full of puddles, 2 times I rode for at least 10 meters through water where it was flooded. From all the harvesting the tractors had also left lots of mud on the road and it was difficult riding in spots.
Went back on a bigger road and could really speed up there.
(Going over to Neuchâtel to SaMaMatti to spend the night as they were leaving early Thursday, and I would take Matti back to Bern.)

Mountain Biking 1:45:10 [3] 27.11 km (3:53 / km) +248m 3:43 / km

An enjoyable mountain bike ride trying out some new routes and getting stuck along railroad tracks where I had to check on my Google map where I actually was ;-). Went home on the other side of the Aare on a beautiful little gnarly trail on a small dam along the Aare. This is one of my very favorite trails in the region, and I read this morning that they're going to close it as they are renaturalizing this area and re-routing the trail.
How can they do it, close and destroy something that's so absolutely natural and replace it with a bigger trail suitable for people with disability. Why could they not do both, leave the old trail that has been there for centuries and build a new one anyway? I was not the only one upset, chatted with a guy when I stopped to make room for him to pass and we were commiserating.
