Hiking 10 [0]

Christoph and I drove up early onto Pikes Peak, and Christoph hurried down towards A-Frame to be there when Marc would come "storming" up Barr trail on the Pikes Peak Marathon race. I waited on top, had coffee and cookie as I felt the altitude and excitement a little bit (and hands were shaking). Then I hiked a few meters down the trail just under the half-way point to spread out Marc's stuff in case he needed/wanted anything. I climbed then further down to overlook the last three miles and saw him coming way ahead. I was so excited I told everybody who he was, and when he approached the last switchbacks and was still jogging easily on 14'110 ft, everyone was in awe and cheering wildly. Marc came, turned around, took his drink and the sunglasses and was gone downhill again. After an eternity of 12 minutes the next guy showed up and another 20 min later the 3rd guy. But by that time I was already back in the store for some souvenir shopping and waiting for Christoph to be back up.

In the evening, driving alone to DIA and flying home.

nice run in Palmer Park with Christoph. Only 34 degrees! The first day we did not have a thunderstorm with heavy rain.

Running 48:17 [3] 4.85 km (9:57 / km) +195m 8:17 / km

Run in Red Rocks Park. Started out with Sandra, and Marc was carrying Matti for a "strength" workout ;-). I love this park with its red rocks and the winding trails. Stopped a lot to take pictures.
Sore calves and quads from yesterday and could not run really well. But I'm only here now for another day and a half. I can rest later.

Orienteering 1:53:36 [3] 7.88 km (14:25 / km) +694m 10:01 / km

Back in Colorado Springs
Went over to Manitou Springs and did the incline as this is new to me (I even remember that we used to ride the cog up before they dismantled it). It's 600 m of steep, straight climb as incline cogs were built that way. Pass a lot of people. Amazing who all is going up there. On top continued a bit to mile 3 and then turned back down on Barr trail.
Fun, fun, fun to be back. All those memories of many Pikes Peak roundtrip races are flooding through my head.

Running 2:02:47 [3] 12.48 km (9:50 / km) +345m 8:39 / km

In Breckenridge on 3100 m.
Went trailrunning with Sandra. Marc dropped us off on Boreas Pass Road and we ran back higher up over timberline to some impressive mines and then steeply back down. Sandra got nervous and went ahead faster while I trudged my own pace back home stopping often, taking pictures and enjoying my trailrunning opportunity back in Colorado again, something I miss dearly.
Time includes several stops, taking pictures, chatting, sightseeing and checking out a young fox that seemed to have no fear, but hunger?

Running 1:33:51 [3] 8.5 km (11:02 / km) +298m 9:23 / km

In Breckenridge with SandraMarcMatti for altitude living for Marc's preparation for the Pikes Peak roundtrip race this Sunday.
Living on 3100 m higher than Trockener Steg!

Went trailrunning from the apartment following a beautiful trail, then a paved road leading into a dirt road. Up high, on 3400 m I wanted to go over the top and back down the other side when big signs in the middle of the woods told me that the trail was closed-private property. So annoyed and backed out an old very rocky mining trail steeply down back to the road. Followed the same way back.
A beautiful day in Colorado!

Stopped a lot on this outing, checking my map, talking to people, taking pictures.
