Running 53:42 [3] 5.16 km (10:24 / km) +229m 8:31 / km

Went to Rigi Kaltbad for Urs's birthday present to enjoy the scenery and the beautiful thermal baths built in 2012 by the world famous Swiss architect Mario Botta. It was a truly stunning design, very clear lines and alcoves built with beautiful granite rocks. I could not stop looking at the building which had a mesmerizing geometry. The stairs as well were not linear but slighlty oblique. (www.rigikaltbad.ch)
It was well worth the visit and the two times I enjoyed the thermal waters.

I also went for an exploratory run up into the clouds which moved in and out and occasionally I could see an incredible view onto the Alps and towards West.

On Monday, the sun was out and it was SO warm at over 20 degrees with a slight Chinook breeze which is always the precursor of a storm coming. But the views all around was stunning and the fall colors so beautiful bathed in that sunshine.

Orienteering race 22:26 [5] 3.24 km (6:56 / km) +52m 6:25 / km

Decided to go to a regional sprint O-race (almost 500 participants!) in Herzogenbuchsee.
Felt I did quite well, never really found a flow as it was constantly interrupted by turning corners and looking very hard that I would not miss a passageway which I did not.
Unfortunately, almost at the end, I punched a wrong number, but it looked so right. On that maintenance building there were two almost identical parallel passages, and I first did not see the one closer to the fence until I was alarmed that there must be somewhere near close a control with my number on it. Lost 1:20 on that one and probably winning it as up to that point the two of us were always alternating who was ahead with my leading most of the time. Oh well, 2nd wasn't too bad.

Running 47:02 [3] 5.67 km (8:17 / km) +183m 7:08 / km

A quick run after having taken care of Matti on Thursday after lunch and all day Friday. Sandra is in Portugal as a coach at the EYOC in charge of the Swiss Youth team (M/F16+18). They did very well at the sprint, winning two golds plus various medals and diplomas.

Ran from the apt to the nearby woods trying out another loop. Felt quite good, still sore quads from the Tuesday training.

Did also a lot of Matti strollering, at least an hour on Thursday and more on Friday walking to Peseux for some groceries.

Running 59:45 [3] 5.83 km (10:15 / km) +431m 7:29 / km

For the first time in at least a year, I did the Gurten hillclimb and loop again. Quite happy with my time as I remember it was usually hard to be under an hour. Did not push, just was an exploratory run to see how it would feel again.
It was SO warm, the chinook (south wind) is blowing, the Alps are close to the touch which is always a sign that rain will soon follow.
A beautiful run.
