Orienteering race 49:52 [5] 5.18 km (9:37 / km) +228m 7:53 / km

Relay Champs: my first leg runner came in first! Wow, so I headed out ahead of everybody and ran as fast as I could. It was fairly easy and I hit the controls but I already had the feeling that I was passed (which did not surprise me) however, it was hard to tell because of the forking. Missed a little trail going to Nr.7, corrected back through the woods but it cost me 3 min! We then had 3 spectators controls around the finish area and back into the woods where I was getting unconcentrated, searched a little and came back to the finish still in 3rd place. Our last runner could hold on to 3rd place!! Our W-160 class did not get medals but food ;-)!
My thoughts: when the orienteering is so easy I loose my focus, not like in France where it was so difficult and I had to concentrate every step of the way. I'm technically superior to many in my class but I still lack the speed and the fitness to keep up with the best, and I seem to be getting "bored" with a leg when it's just running and then I start dreaming and missing simple trails. I have to work on that!

Ahh, did I mention the rain today?? After my 2nd leg it started to raine continuously and we had to stand around and wait in the rain for and during the awards. Luckily it remained warm!

Mountain Biking 1:14:33 [3] 19.11 km (3:54 / km) +112m 3:47 / km

We had a sprint in Estavayer-le-Lac on the lake of neuchâtel, and I went mountain biking with Urs before and incidently, Sandra had come over the lake with a ship and was going to meet us. Somehow, she took a wrong turn and I had to head back on my own as I was really late getting to my starttime of 17:31. Biked back at high speed and my quads were feeling it!
Back in 30 min, out in 44min.

Orienteering race 18:07 [5] 2.69 km (6:43 / km) +13m 6:34 / km

Nat. O-meet, sprint in Estavayer-le-Lac a mediaval town: coming back from the bike ride only 16 min before my starttime, I had to change, pick up my number and run 1.2 k to the start where I arrived 2 minutes before the start time! That's even too close for me. Tried to settle down, attach the bib number, clear and check, stow away the clue sheet and then off! Overshot several controls at the beginning by a few meters as they were hidden sometimes. Already I got a feel for the medivial part as there were sort of trenches which made the town appear on different levels. A second of checking things out make a lot of difference. Quite good until #9, then to 10 and into the castle over the bridge and I knew my flag was somewhere below on a different level but how to get there? Lost a minute here because I did not see the one small passage going straight down.
All in all not bad, but could be over 1 min faster and my legs were dead after that bike ride. Still came in 8th (out of 40) and was both pleased and annoyed at myself. Oh well, saw a very pretty old town that I did not know.
Very hot again today, but a bit later a strong thunderstorm drowned the late-starters. Poor them!
Tomorrow relay champs!

Mountain Running 2:22:15 [0] 8.64 km (16:28 / km) +703m 11:42 / km

Ran from Gantrisch up to Bürglen and did another loop to check out a ridge that goes over to the "Ochsen", but it was way too steep to go alone. Beautiful day. Ran almost all of it up.
