I felt like I needed to find another place to run near Berne as everything from the house starts on pavement and in the Bremer woods its hard packed dirt roads, too.
I seem to have the beginning of shinsplints and really sore knees, so I want to do the most to avoid more meniscus problems. I decided to stretch my quads, shins and tops of feet as much as I can and also avoid pavement as much as possible.
Went to the Dentenberg with an O-map. Very nice loop but I had real trouble with the smaller trails. Even though they were still about 1 m wide but had roots and rocks as is normal, but I just can't do that yet, I slow way down as the 2 m ahead of me is still a grey area :'(. Twice, I also went through the woods for a shortcut but that was a bad idea.
The map reading needs to improve as well, because I just can't adjust my head tilt correctly to look down on the trail and the map. I can read the map just fine without my glasses but then I don't see where I put my feet ;-(. Oh well, still need to wait.
On familiar terrain I was doing so great and I thought things were fine, but that was "only" the brain that had adjusted, but unfamiliar areas are still hard on me. No orienteering for me yet, but there are still almost 2 months.... It already has improved so much, this will come, too!
I also twisted my ankle! But it should be ok if I am careful for a week, I guess.
