Hiking 3:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (15:00 / km) +1000m 10:35 / km
Went with a group of friends to the suspension bridge Trifftbrücke. It is the highest suspension bridge (120 m over the river and 170 m long!!). As only a small gondola goes the first 300 m up there, we would have to wait for 2 hrs to wait for our turn. So we hiked from the road!! Alice could not follow, in fact, she was so slow, I was exasperated as I had wanted to be back in Bern at least by 6.30 pm for one last swim in the Aare in this hot weather (they said that the summer would be over afterwards). We eventually made it to the top of the gondola and continued the next 500 m climb to the glacier and the bridge. Christine and I went ahead and waiter for 90 min for Doris and Alice to come. Did not cross the bridge as I have an intense fear of air underneath. Went by myself up to the Windegg hug rockclimbing up with some fixed ropes. From there all the way very steeplydown to the top of the gondola (I had caught up to the others before). We had anticipated that the people were all brought down, but no, there was another 90 min wait for our turn. Very frustrating. To top it off, we were stuck in a traffic jam on the way home for another 45 minutes. Not my kind of day. My patience was running very low.
