Orienteering race 53:50 [4] 6.5 km (8:17 / km) +80m 7:48 / km

Daylight Savings Time changes, slept in and decided to go for an Orace instead of "just" training somewhere around Bern in this warm and beautiful weather with half the Swiss population out and about walking ;-).

Feel motivated for the Orace and try to push it; flat Middleland typical Swiss terrain, but quite tricky mostly because it was so flat. Needed very accurate compass and distance. Make a few minor mistakes, but they cost me a total of about 3 minutes. Then, I am still not very nimble when running through the woods. I need to pracitce running cross-country again. But, at the moment, I have had back pain on and off for the last 10 days and, occasionally, can only teach my classes with some ibuprofein.

Downhill skiing 1:30:00 [1]

Beautiful spring skiing on the Schilthorn; skied about 4 hours total.

Friday Mar 28, 2008 #

Running 49:46 [3] 8.0 km (6:13 / km) +250m 5:23 / km

Run to Ruedi's hut just run and take it easy and run under 50 Min, my goal!! How does it work, that for 2 weeks, I feel so slow and the times are slow, and on a simple Friday, with no particular ambition, I realise my goal?? Oh well, I take it, of course ;-))
32.22 up and 17.24 back down.

Yoga 1:30:00 [1]

Teach 2 yoga classes (one for seniors yesterday as well with lots of back pain!); my back is acting up and trying to catch. Some moves go smoothly, others I can only do with supporting my back. But overall, the yoga feels great and stretches my muscles.

Nordic Walking 1:10:00 [2] 7.0 km (10:00 / km)

Thursday group to Ruine Wyssenau and back.

Wednesday Mar 26, 2008 #

Running 43:48 [3] 6.0 km (7:18 / km)

Run with Manuela the Lombach short loup Lombach. For being a beginner, she runs quite well!
18.12 to first bridge; 4.16 to 2nd bridge, 22.29 total and 21.19 back. Relaxed run with lots of chatting.

Strength 45:00 [2]

Teach Wednesday evening conditioning class; some core exercises then a round of plyometrics together with core strength.

Tuesday Mar 25, 2008 #

Running 48:12 [3] 8.0 km (6:02 / km)

Run at lunch to Lombach, 2nd bridge, to my mailbox (to empty it as I haven't been home since Thursday) and over the wooden bridge back to the hotel.
21.52 to the bridge; 12.55 to my house (34.48 total) and 13.24 back

Still feel kind of lethargic and don't run fast times at all :-((. Lots of new snow today again! I had to search for my car this morning under 20 cm of new snow in Bern!! Over Easter it has been the coldest this winter so far (!!) and the most snow in the Lower areas of Switzerland all winter!! Amazing.

Nordic Walking 1:15:00 [2] 7.0 km (10:43 / km) +80m 10:08 / km

Tuesday evening Nordic Walking group. I am amazed that 9 people show up despite the cold and the snow! Do a loop on the Harder (somewhat protected from the winds) and over to Goldswil, all little ups and downs and over the high railroad bridge back.

Unspecified 1 [0]

Easter Monday and a day off for most people in Switzerland. It was a great, sunny morning with lots of fresh snow in the mountains, just perfect for skiing. But, working in the hotel industry, no day is sacred, and I had to go to work :-((. No classes though, but I did a lot in my "other" job duties: repotting 4 of the huge ficus plants in the hotel entry. They needed it (as do still many more!) as nobody had cared for the plants in the last 10+ years and they were standing in water with a very foul smell! What a mess we made! We were 3 people working for 3 hours straight and now my back hurts!
