Training Log Archive: Torino

Last swim; I am definitely sick, but had to do it as we're heading back home in the evening. Feel warm in the water but the air feels cool.

Feel very sick; go to beach late afternoon and lay on chair for a while; then go into the water anyway and swim fast for 30 min; feels good to "flush" my sinuses with the saltwater.

Hike to the top of Monte Epomeo at 789 m. Great view all around the island of Ischia and over to Capri and Naples.

Good swim again, but my cold is getting worse and I am all stuffed up

Again, my usual swimming in the Mediterranean, every day at a different beach.

Run up to Chappel Santa Maria del Monte and beyond in endless oak woods. Wonderful! However, there was the yearly pilgrimage to this chapel on the same evening and motorbikes (Vespas) after another and little cars and trucks headed up with masses of people. The woods were full of family gatherings and I got lots of comments! I was dumbstruck to be amongst these crowds in this remote and very steep place, but the people were full of good cheer and very spirited. What an incredible experience this was. Also saw another grand typical Ischitani sunset from high up and had to rush back before it got too dark. (And I had to be careful not to get lost as Italian trails and little roads would sometimes connect and sometimes just stop by a stable.) The map gave me a clue but was lots of times unreliable!

Thermal baths at Negombo Beach (wonderful!!) and afterwards swimming in Med.
