Yoga 1:10:00 [2]

Teaching my last two fitness yoga classes. At 6 pm, my working employment in the sport program of the Hotel Metropole in Interlaken had ceased.
What I had built over the last 9 years has come to an end.

Unspecified 1 [3]

Working half day as I had to clean out and pack up lots of my stuff and get things put in order.

Teaching classes 1:30:00 [1]

Last Tuesday classes:
2x senior fitness, they are really, really sad.
1x core conditioning fitness class.

I am trying to ignore the situation and just pretend that I am going on a long vacation! That makes it easier.

Nordic Walking 1:20:00 [2] 4.1 km (19:31 / km)

Last work week! It is time to say good-bye.
Last Nordic Walking in the freezing rain out of the cold East wind along the "Brand".
Last Fitball class, some core conditioning and balance strength, but easy other than that.

Went to the Ticino, Lugano, to celebrate my brother's birthday with a surprise party. His son also had turned one just 2 days before. There were 34 people there all being fed and entertained in a way they only can do in the southern parts: all relaxed but lots of fun including all the kids until about midnight. I really had to dig out my Italian to kind of keep up with it all but really enjoyed it.
My nephew looks like a cherub angel and always seems to be in a good mood; no wonder with his 6 older siblings!!

Mini Trampolin 30:00 [2]

The day was running away from me and the weather was also dismal to go out running in the cold wind and rain. So I opted for a quick Mini-tramp workout.

Yoga 1:00:00 [1]

Teaching 2 yoga classes.

This was a very busy day, I was going non-stop as I am sorting out all my athletic material, making lists to sell things in the evening.
All the class members showed up for my "sports sale" and the following good-bye appetizers in the Top o'Met restaurant that the director had sponsored in my honor! Also received very memorable gifts from my 7 different classes.

Running 49:45 [3] 6.5 km (7:39 / km) +80m 7:13 / km

Ran the Elfenauloop again. Felt a little better than last time.

Teaching classes 1:00:00 [1]

Teaching 3 core conditioning fitness classes: everytime we warmed-up with a Unihockey game. This was so much fun now that everybody seems to get the hang of it. It was interesting to see how the seniors slowly picked how this worked and they were getting into it!! We laughed so much.

Nordic Walking 1:20:00 [2]

No Nordic Walking today, half the class refused to get out into the rain, so we did a fitness class.

I had another core conditioning fitness class.
The second last work week had started. I am really having a funny feel in my stomach now that the end of my sport program is getting close, so I covered up my/our feelings of sadness by playing unihockey which is so intense and fun.

Skateskiing 50:00 [3]

Did a short loop in Adelboden while waiting for Christine. This was not my day, felt sluggish with little strength to push upwards.
I have a new Garmin and still can't download it, rats!

Classic x-c skiing 50:00 [2]

I was giving Christine another lesson in cross-country skiing. Unfortunately, she fell at the beginning (standing still!), and we had to keep it short. But she managed some downhills without falls and losing some of her fears.

Downhill skiing 20:00 [2]

After my cross-country skiing went to find Urs's group for some downhill skiing. I had to ski fast to catch up and find them, and then to come back again to the place up on the mountain at Chuenisbärgli, Adelboden, where we had our fondue.
Afterwards night downhill on the World Cup slope. The conditions were perfect and it was amazing to see our 17 lights of the head lamps coming down in one lane.
Again, a wonderful fondue followed by a memorable downhill at night.

Yoga 1:40:00 [2]

Teaching 2 yoga classes with good flow and one core conditioning class.

The back is finally better, yoga is always good for it.

Running 50:03 [3] 5.7 km (8:46 / km) +209m 7:25 / km

Another run, almost the same time but felt better. Only the right knee is still acting up. Light snow showers after a week of springtime weather. All the crocus and spring flowers are up. So nice to see colors again.

Teaching classes 1:00:00 [2]

Teaching two core conditioning classes. Step warm-up (even the seniors!) and then a series of pretty hard abdominal and low back strengthening exercises. Finishing up with a quick circuit of proprioception and balance training (mini tramp, small hurdles, pillow and hedgehogs). Lots of fun!

Nordic Walking 1:10:00 [1] 4.3 km (16:17 / km) +60m 15:13 / km

Week minus 3 with my classes, the count-down has started!
Normal Monday with a core conditioning class and some balance-strength exercises as a circuit.
Later, the Nordic Walking class going up to the pretty look-out. I guess it will be the last time we're coming here officially as a class. Very warm and very pleasant to be out.

Orienteering race 1:00:05 [4] 5.02 km (11:58 / km) +196m 10:01 / km

I had decided to head out for a local o-meet (with 822 participants!!!) as the weather was very nice and warm, Urs came along and Sandra would be there as well.
I was very much aware that my back and Right knee are still unstable, but orienteering usually does not hurt it that much because of the all-body motions and soft surfaces while running through the woods. Did not push it, just wanted a base line. From here, I can only improve and no more stumble through the woods with hippo speed.
Note: my class has gained new women from below (F55) and is now even more competitive. These women are in shape!

Made a few little mistakes but basically I was happy with it despite this being my first Orienteering experience this year.

Running 50:40 [3] 5.81 km (8:43 / km) +219m 7:20 / km

After a long while of not running and mostly x-c skiing, felt like I needed to run again to check on my back and right knee. It felt surprisingly ok. The time could have been worse.

Skateskiing 1:27:12 [2] 11.41 km (7:39 / km) +187m 7:04 / km

Wanted to go up to the sun. But it was not my best day, had no energy or power and my arms and legs were kind of "empty" from yesterday. Plus, I seemed to have a headache all day. But I still took it easy, stopped often and just looked at the incredible view from up there on Vue des Alpes over the Bernese Alps down to Mont Blanc,
Oh, and I forgot, the snow was very slow as it became warmer. Sometimes, the skis would even stick a bit.

Skateskiing 35:18 [3] 5.8 km (6:05 / km) +90m 5:39 / km

One last loop skateskiing and again, it was tough on the uphills, my arms are not in shape enough to power up those hills. Had fun though with my technique and practicing push-offs etc.
12 PM

Classic x-c skiing 1:15:00 [3] 9.8 km (7:39 / km) +181m 7:00 / km

Escaped the grey compact fog cover hanging over the middle land and went to Engstligenalp (standing in line on the hightway and for the gondola up as everyone had the same idea to find sunshine).
Met up with Christine and gave her a classic cross-country lesson and we covered the smaller loop under an hour.
Then I did the big loop with the classic skis, and I got really tired especially on the uphills. And I started feeling my back.
So I switched to the skate skis for one last loop.
