Downhill skiing 1:00:00 [1]

Downhill skiing in Lenk. Instead of the predicted sun, the weather turned freaking cold and it started to snow. I could not ski for very long before needing to warm up inside! But beautiful slopes with a touch of new snow. my knee seems strong enough, however, it still hurts. Quit at 3 pm and went to the car.

Had a leisure morning and the sun actually came out!! Decided on a little snowshoe tour up from the B+B we're staying in St.Stephan. went up the south side onto a flat shoulder. Very nice new snow, 40 cm of powder! Came down the meadows pretty quickly!

Tried skate skiing for the first time again in over 3 years!! Lots of fun. Was the first one on the tracks and it was very soft! From St.Stephan to Matten and back. My shoulder seems to be able to handle the skate skiing.

Roadbiking 25:00 [2]

Did a quick training on the roadbike on rollers with 2x4min pick-ups and 3 min recover. Felt really good. Afterwards, had PT with myofascial release on quads and tensor fascia.

Drove to Lenk in pm and went to see Massimo Rocchi in the "Zelt", so much fun!! Very snowy day :-).

Snowshoe Touring 3:00:00 [3] 9.0 km (20:00 / km) +550m 15:19 / km

led a snowshoetour from Lombachalp up to Bolmountain, down the other side for lunch, then back up and down over Twiri straight 800 m down into habkern. Excellent group and trip and best of all, we were up over the fog for a while until near the end when we could barely see our feet for a while. The group had to trust my orienteering abilities finding our ways down into the village.

NW in the evening with just a few participants. it had snowed and stormed all day, but was rather quiet and actually beautiful to look down onto the snowcovered Interlaken from up some ways of the Harder.

Another awful night with being up half the time :-(.

Went "running" in the Bremer and decided to do my 7km loop again. The woods are still snowcovered and footing is slippery. After 5 km, I felt the lack of conditioning and I pushed through the end anyway.

Downhill skiing 1:30:00 [1]

Afternoon of downhill skiing in Adelboden with Urs's aerobic group. It went better than expected but I was cautious with the inside of my knee when carving. However, I do feel strength in the knee as well.

Evening fondue on top of the ski area then nightly downhill under the half moon and thousands of stars!

Had an awful and restless night again :-(.

Went running in the Dählhölzli, then Elfenau and Aare. On the way back, I scoped my cross-country loop in the Dählhölzli I am intending to do on a regular basis to get better at running through the woods again.
13.23 for the loop.

I also had PT and did my strength exercises and the proprioception stuff at home.

To top it off, I also saw my surgeon again as the knee is not much better and I am so frustratred.

Smaller but fast Thursday group, we went around the kleine Rugen, to Rugenbräu (beer plant) and the ruins of Unspunnen. Very icy and slippery.

Somehow, I did not make it outside all day and it had started snowing. So I decided to do my workout inside on the roadbike with 4x4min pickups.

Tuesday evening NW group. Finally, more than 1-2 people showed up and finally, the weather was fine and we saw a beautiful starry nightsky!

Had PT (luckily), and she got the tension out of my back, hamstring with myo-fascial release. Even though, I am very disillusioned about my non-progressing and still having knee pain, I must admit that my muscles have loosened up a lot and let go much more easily than ever before. Maybe, there is hope??
Also, I am capable of almost completely stretching my legs now, that is the back of my knees would not been able to touch the floor the way they do now and is normal!!

Did my leg strengthening exercises on machines and 10 min on the bike.

Dediced not to go the the Nat. O-meet: felt too tired with low energy and my legs were hurting. What good would it do besides bringing home sore muscles from pavement pounding and the realisation in how poor a shape I am in? So, I stayed home, rested and did some better suited quality trainings:

Went running in the Bremgartenwald. Long approach to the Finnenbahn and did my 5 loops (3 km). The time does not mean much as the ground was very sllippery with soft melting snow. Very hard on my calves.

As my knee hurt quite a bit from running and the last 3 days, I chose to get on the bike and just ride it in a very easy manner while watching "live and let die". That helped a lot.
However, i could not do any proprioception training, my knee was simply too tired.

Another beautiful day in the mountains, this time in Adelboden. While Urs, Christoph and Kurt were skiing, I did some snowshoeing with Christine. I needed to test my new MSRs that I bought in Colorado. We walked down from Silleren to Geils then up to Metschstand in parts through some beautiful fluffy snow. After lunch, we walked back down the valley to Bergläger for the gondola back.
My knee hurt from yesterday, and I felt it much on the downhills. On the uphills, I felt thoroughly out of shape first, then I got more and more into a rhythm.

Finally, I got to escape these grey days down below and saw the sun and light in Saanenmöser. Wonderful day on the downhill skis. I was curious how my knee would behave and it did not do too badly. I could feel it a lot while carving in the left curves on the inside meniscus.
Skied cautiously first, then better and better. Skied almost non-stop for 2x 2 hours! Lot of fun.

I was so depressed 10 days ago after my last run that my knee still hurt that I stopped activities altogether.
Knee hurt today, too.

Felt a very deep tiredness in my muscles all day. Decided on a run anyway because my work week starts again tomorrow, and when would I have the chance to run again soon?
Did my "old" loop but drove to the Dählhölzli with the car. Did the zigzag loop coming back again through the woods instead of following the Aare.
My knee hurt at the end :-(.

Spent our last day at the gym of the Reha Clinic with excellent weight and cardio machines! did 20 min of bike and some cross trainer. Then weights on keiser machines: 3 x 20 reps on leg press, leg extension, leg curl, abd, and addmachines; tricep and trap. I had sore and tired muscles.
Went to the Solebath of our hotel and spent 30 min swimming and relaxing my muscles.
Did have no energy left to go to the sauna, so we went home again.

After a long but delightful day at the spa with whirlpools, thermal baths outside under a grey drizzling sky and some sauna-ing, I went "running" just before it got dark. Went from the thermal baths in Zurzach down to the Rhine, along the river for a bit and returned by the same way. I was thoroughly wet coming back, but what's new? with being in the pools or sauna almost for 5 hours, I figured a little rain could not hurt.
My knee was ok, but it still feels strange to run and pretty quickly I felt how the water built up inside the capsule again. Rats.
