Running 1:03:50 [3] 11.0 km (5:48 / km) +120m 5:30 / km

Create my "hourglass-loop" run: Start with Urs along the Aare up to Elfenau from where I continue on my own and do the loop up to zig-zag trail and back along the Aare up to Elfenau again. From there through the Dählhölzli (lynx, buffalo, tennis fields) back. I like that figure-8 loop especially as it seems to be with lots of little uphills towards the end.

For the first time since I am back, I feel as if my running speed is coming back, and I feel quite good.

Swimming 15:00 [1] 2.5 km (6:00 / km)

This year's first swim in the Aare (she measured at 66 degrees!). We walked up to the Eichholz and floated down for a full 15 minutes to the Dalmazibridge. What fun!
Current was quite strong, and lots of people enjoying that treat.

Orienteering 1:04:55 [4] 3.8 km (17:05 / km) +220m 13:15 / km

Ran the second leg in the Oberland Relay high up in the Diemtigtal (above the Gsässweid on Ottenschwand). Very steep area. I really mean steep! I had an ultra-long leg to #1 (which took me 21 min) contouring on a steep hill side and going up at least 120 m in one swoop. Once I reached the little woods with my first 4 controls, I concentrated a lot and found each one on the spot even though it was quite hard in there with thick woods, lots of rocks and roots and moos, just where gnomes and elves are hiding. Afterwards, another long traverse back to more controls in other woods. I felt that I went quite fast for me but it seems that I slacked with my alpine speed a bit towards the end.
A course to be remembered, very tough but awesome scenery and beautiful weather.

Running 42:47 [3] 9.0 km (4:45 / km) +170m 4:21 / km

As I have an orientering relay to run tomorrow, decide not to do the normal Friday up to Bleiki-thing but run the gnome-sheeploop instead. Time is ok, even though I still do not feel fast but somehow just moving along and stumbling a lot ;-(.

Yoga 1:00:00 [2]

Teach yoga class, feels good again to stretch those muscles in all different ways. Lots of yoga combos and moves, sweating pretty hard for about half an hour :-)).

Nordic Walking 1:10:00 [2] 6.3 km (11:07 / km) +120m 10:09 / km

Thursday eveing class: walked up to the Wachtfeuer. Beautiful views, everything looks so calm and serene.

Orienteering 23:27 [4] 2.7 km (8:41 / km)

OrienThun Event: Do a street-O training in Thun along the Lake and in the neighborhoods. On a new map and in a very pretty area with a small castle, a chappel and congress center in a park.
I feel ok, but looking at the results, I am way behind. It will be interesting to see the splits (we had electronic punching), and considering that most women were way younger, maybe I did not do as bad. But, the fact remains, I need more faster training again.

Running 40:47 [3] 9.0 km (4:32 / km) +170m 4:08 / km

Run at lunch the Lombach loop to the 2nd bridge. Finally, get my program started again. Whew was it hard with my jet lag and after 3 weeks "vacation" in the beautiful West! Very hard to come back to real life again.
Feel heavy and slow.
21.25 to the bridge and 19.22 back

Nordic Walking 1:10:00 [2] 6.3 km (11:07 / km) +180m 9:43 / km

Go with my Tuesday evening NW class up to the Schibeflueh and then on to the Lombach. Have a pretty good pace. Lots of people back from their vacations and telling their stories (one gal was in Kamtchatka for 3 weeks, climbing volcanoes!).

Nice weather, for a change, and it is supposed to stay!

Teaching classes 1:10:00 [1]

Teaching 2 classes for core strength and use some weights for upper body strength as well.

In the evening Nordic Walking class with the seniors, comfortable pace for over 60 min.

Running 1:01:00 [2] 11.0 km (5:33 / km) +60m 5:24 / km

Could not get out of jet lag and worries about my missing luggage. Quite depressed and deeply tired. Did not go to O-meet as I had the first start (and we know how poorly I do early in the morning), but also because I was up again half the night without being able to sleep until finally after 5 am.

Little, slow run/jog with Urs from his house up along the Aare to Elfenau, then I continue on my own for another 10 min. Barely make it back, my legs hurt form what?

Running 55:08 [3] 11.0 km (5:01 / km) +90m 4:49 / km

After packing in Bern, run the zigzag trail, try to push it, but slower than I was in March :-(. Maybe, I'm just stressed or summer and my injury/accident has really set me back? Who knows.
But now: vacation!!!!!! :-))
28.47 up and 26.20 back. Saw all 4 lynxes, the 2 cubs were sleeping on a treestump, so cute.

Running 53:13 [3] 7.0 km (7:36 / km) +250m 6:27 / km

Go up to Ruedi's hut before I have to start working at noon. Feel ok, it is incredible humid, but I am somewhat disappointed with the time. Same speed as in April.

Have to work all day outside the hotel at the bar. It started to rain, and we were bored as nobody wanted a beer but wished for hot cider instead! The parade was completely rained out :-(. We could quit that side bar by 8 pm and I thought I could go home, but wrong! I had to work out front where it was hectic, very noisy, stinking of melted cheese and smoke. And a band played full force besides the bar. I was glad I could quit after an 11-hour workday!! And I know the others had to keep going well into the morning. Uh, I hate 1st of Augusts and working in a hotel.
