Strength 'n Stretching 30:00 [2]

Did my weight training program, but I was so tired, it was way too hard to get through.
11 AM

Jogging 53:20 [2] 5.26 km (10:09 / km) +104m 9:14 / km

Jog/walking home after doing my weight training program. Bad idea, I couldn't make my leg muscles to move properly. So I walked part of the way. And took pictures as we received snow overnight and it was pretty with the white Jura hills and the colorful fall forests below.

Strength 'n Stretching 45:00 [2]

Took the Friday stretching class. I hurt a lot, sore muscles all over and I'm pondering has it really been the Wed class or the Mon lifting weights? After I dropped off to a 2-hour nap after lunch, it suddenly hit me: I feel like having the flu! Sure enough, I had a flu shot on Tuesday and I'm a little slow to react? I don't know as this was my first flu shot ever.

After the nap I felt a whole lot better and the muscle ache has disappeared wo taking an ibuprofein which I had planned to.

Strength 'n Stretching 1:00:00 [3]

Tough CAF training, intervall with weights and 11 different stations.

Running 48:00 [3] 5.4 km (8:53 / km) +50m 8:30 / km

Run home (my watch doesn't work anymore properly), that is, I can start and finish it and it shows the time, distance, but once I hook it onto the computer for downloading, it does not show the training nor does it download. In fact, it deletes the training.)

Strength 'n Stretching 45:00 [2]

Started with my set of weight lifting again, easing into it after almost a 2-weeks' break.

Running 11:42 [2] 1.3 km (9:00 / km) +47m 7:38 / km

Warm-up to the start

Orienteering race 1:06:14 [4] 5.92 km (11:11 / km) +304m 8:54 / km

O-meet of the club for the end of the year followed by annual meeting and potluck.
Long course for me, easy though, but lots of climb and still did 2 mistakes by being too inattentive.

Running 11:20 [2] 0.86 km (13:13 / km)

Back to parking, not all distance recorded.

Running 52:48 [3] 5.42 km (9:45 / km) +145m 8:36 / km

A jog back home. Quite the temperature shock! The woods were very wet from all the rain and it was really slippery on all the leaves covering the rocks.

Running 46:23 [3] 5.36 km (8:39 / km) +95m 7:57 / km

Last run on Teneriffe; going home in the afternoon. Truly enjoyed it with the Atlantic on one side and the Teide on the other and blue sky above. Of course, the temperature even at 8 am already over 20 degrees C. Heaven.

Swimming in the heated saltwater pool (the first time for me there) into the sunset. I was most of the time alone and it was heavenly, surrounded by palmtrees, blue water and a view West to the setting sun and the Atlantic

Hiking 4:30:00 [3] 16.18 km (16:41 / km) +940m 12:56 / km

Up very early and 1 hr-drive to the trailhead of Montana Biancha to climb up on Mount Teide. It was a wonderful day, but the wind was fierce and came in gusts and gale-force strength.
Out plan was to hike and climb up to the Altavista rifugium and on to Fortalezza on 3550 m and from there over on same altitude to the top station of the gondola. Well, after we had started I received a message that the gondola would not run this day at all. Bummer, as we had the downhill tickets already and it meant we had to hike out whatever we were going to do which really made us think things over.
But I was determined to go up the the Altavista hut and that I could manage the 16 km hike with almost 1000 m of elevation gain and loss. Last year, I have watched the people from the turnoff at 2700 m how they snaked their way up that steep, fascinating slope and felt I wanted to do that, too, and that it looked like fun and doable.
So we did our long approach on a dirtroad mostly into that strong wind up to that point. As I said I wanted to try, Urs followed as well, but he was very skeptical. We "easlily" reached the 3000 m level and we re-evaluated again. Urs went on and we had a steady, slow pace up that beautiful trail among lava fields or bush sections or a steep ochre part until we finally reached the crest and saw the windbag of the rifugio at 3260 m. We ate some of our sandwiches and soon headed back down as it was still a long way. The last few kilometers to the first parking and then on to our parking on the paved road were quite tough. But all in all, it was quite fun and a good adventure.

Swimming 40 [3] 0.7 km (57 / km)

Rest day to get ready for tomorrow's big climb.
Stay on the beach a bit in the afternoon and nap and swim. It is much calmer now and easier to swim.

After a lunch break with sandwiches on our terrace in the sunshine, we headed down late afternoon and I swam again in the coldish sweet^water pool. Again, no soul in the water after 6 pm and swimming into the sunset.

I have developed an infection around my right big toe, that is around the nailbed. It itches and is inflammed and red. Doesn't look good. I'm cooling off the foot/toe in cold water in the bath tub several times as I don't have the right cream with me and most shops or doctors are closed because it's Sunday.
8 AM

Running 43:08 [3] 4.87 km (8:51 / km) +87m 8:08 / km

Swimming 20 [2] 0.3 km (1:07 / km)

I was SO tired after the hike but Urs urged me to go try the beach with the balck sand and the Atlantic. It was great, the water a little whipped up by the wind, but turning back in, the crawling went just fine with the wind behind me. It felt wonderful to be yet back again in salt water.
12 PM

Hiking 1:07:08 [3] 2.75 km (24:26 / km) +347m 14:59 / km

Climbing Roque el Condo like we did 2 years ago. Fun again and quite an interesting climb.
3 PM

Hiking 1:10:13 [3] 2.79 km (25:09 / km) +471m 13:38 / km

Coming back down, I don't know where Garmin got thos 471 m climb here.

Swimming 2 [2] 250.0 km ( / km)

Swimming after hours in an empty pool, this time the coldish sweetwater pool which is so large with an island in the middle. Watching the sunset and moving my tired legs and cooking them a little, too. Felt like heaven to swim alone in such beauty.
9 AM

Running 47:34 [3] 5.59 km (8:31 / km) +106m 7:46 / km

In Teneriffe and doing "our" early morning jog before breakfast. This year we seem to have wonderful weather and so warm! Did the loop as always, only the pavement hurt my back a bit as I haven't been used to it.
Again, beautiful scenery along the Atlantic with withwashed houses and tall cacti and lots of blooming bougainvillae and more. All under a deep blue sky. Life is good.
1 PM

Hiking 1:57:27 [3] 6.49 km (18:06 / km) +1090m 9:50 / km

We went up near the Volcano Teide on about 1500 m and did a loop around another volcano that blew in 1909 and lots of jagged lava is everywhere. Luckily they did a nice trail through the light green coniferous woods until going through the lava only for about 500 m. A beautiful loop to get started and aclimated again
(the climb it indicates is not at all accurate, more like 180 m climb)
