Mountain Biking in Chamonix. The trails are quite tough, had to push my bike on the steepest inclines bc it often was full of rocks or roots. Parts of my ride was where Mare was going to run (and win!) the Marathon de Mont Blanc the next day. Beautiful trails just heaven for orienteering runners (but hard for Biking).

Riding to the start. Quite cold out, "only" about 14 degrees plus strong winds.

Bike O race 56:03 [5] 11.13 km (5:02 / km) +343m 4:22 / km

Bike-O: shortened long distance. Rode quite well, lots of long steep uphills, but also fun trails to take, on some of the steep muddy downhills, I got off and ran part-way (just because everybody reminded me to be careful and not come back with broken bones ;-0), well, I just had a bloody open wound over my eye.).
Back in the school, talking to people I realised that I did the big loop the wrong way around. Oh rats!! All for nothing. I just didn't pay attention to the numbers as in Bike-O this is usually not an issue, one just follows the line and usually leaves in the opposite direktion from arriving. But not at #4!!
Can't change it now, but it's very annoying.

Wanted to do a bike Training over the Gurten, but felt Kind of like I was in the process of catching something and have had a sore throat for days. So I opted to just climb up part of the way and then push it on the flatter sections. Caught a dry window between some light rains, except towards the Oberland I had some rain.
On the way back after crossing the big road and getting into the straight flat area before the Bern Airport, I noticed a bird far away enjoying its flights Shooting straight down catching a mouse (?), when I noticed this "bird" had an engine! I watched it in awe while it was doing its acrobatics; amazing, I felt my stomach go queasy just imagining those upside-down Loops and upwards- or downwards spirals! A great Show. Chatted with many People along my way who were all just watching in awe, and it seems never have happened before even for those who were Walking their Dogs daily in that area. Fun Thing!

Despite all reasoning, I wanted to do the Frauenlauf (women's run) in Bern, first because it's on my doorstep, then sort of as a farewell because we're moving away in September, and then because I could easily blend in the anonimity of 15'000 women even if I were limping the course.
I signed up in the 35 min-wave and came in just a few seconds short. So happy! Amazing, how perspectives Change, in the past I would have never been happy with that Kind of time ;-)).
The uphills were tough, I just can't seem to find the strength for the push-Offs in my calves, probably because the knees are compromised. But anyway, did I mention, they always have a very nice women's T'shirt!! they're worth it.

Easy ride to enjoy the sun and warmth as the weather is supposed to Change. Pushed the pace on some Stretches and other Stretches I was enjoying the ride.

Didn't have much time today, and managed to squeeze in a short ride. Went as hard as I could in spots to get some strength and Speed. On a smallish trail I went too Close to a fence, touched it and lost control of the bike for a Moment and couldn't save myself anymore from falling into thorny, scratchy raspberry bushes. Rats. Was hard to get back up as everywhere I touched it had thorns. My left arm had lots of scratches and I seem to bleed so easily These days, my Skin must be so thin. And, of course, had to dig out many Little thorns. ;-))

Went for a "quick" bike ride over the Gurten. Had two longer stops as I ran/rode into old friends (from orienteering) and chatted before stopping the watch. But it was fun (and important) to visit with each other.
Feel a lot stronger on the uphills now. On Strava I saw that for certain sections (mostly the uphill ones) I was usually half a Minute faster than a month ago over less of a km distance. Sweet.

Ride in the sunshine (it's been so very warm and beautiful). Did some new exploring along the Belpberg and really found a nice trail which stopped. Had to go down to the paved road. On the first Occasion I went back up on a narrow hiking trail which was beautiful along a Creek going up very steeply. Had to push my bike and haul it over steps. Had wanted to go over the Belpberg but didn't feel had the strength anylonger, so I took the fastest flatest way home but tried to push it.

Running while Urs went on a walk w Matti to the playground then Meeting me at the wooden playhouse in the Woods.
Lots of stopping and reading the News (Federer lost, Blatter finally resigned) and chatting w People and then with Urs and Matti. Lots of fun, but slow.
