Orienteering race 44:44 [4] 4.2 km (10:39 / km) +60m 9:56 / km
Street Orienteering race in Venice!! My fourth time, and it was as much fun as ever! Even though I have not run in over 8 weeks, I could move quite well through the little alleys and found a good pace to navigate and keep on moving through the crowds of people. The orienteering was very hard and our course really challenging, and I really like that. Unlike in the woods, on has to know with EVERY step where one is because all looks the same and the houses are at least 3-4 stories high. The little alleyways sometimes are barely wide enough for two people. It truly feels like orienteering in a maze. The goal is always to find the right alley to cross one of the canals. There are tons of bridges but most often the end on somebody's doorstep!
there were 3400 participants from all over Europe and Canada! I ended up 4th in my class which was a surprise, of course!
