Running 1:08:30 [3] 7.96 km (8:36 / km) +160m 7:49 / km

My first run again after 2 weeks of x-c skiing. Went quite well.
Urs dropped me off and did my normal loop in 43 minutes which is good. Then, I explored a way home but got to dead-ends. Eventually went out to the road and went home the "normal" way that I know by now.

Classic x-c skiing 1:32:22 [3] 11.61 km (7:57 / km) +203m 7:19 / km

Starting out with the skating skis, but I felt it wasn't my day, no strength, no balance, so I returned and put on the classic skis. Went much better this way.
The tracks were superior today and some good snow, the best I have experienced it this winter.
Lots of stops today, started out with Urs, then went by myself and met him again, and we chatted.

Snowshoe Touring 4:14:15 [2] 9.55 km (26:38 / km) +454m 21:31 / km

Did a nice snowshoe hike with Mary and Marlyn Peet. Sunny first, then the clouds moved in, but it never got cold. Very nice, little slowish hike leading them up to Mont Racine. Lots of stops and picture taking.

Classic x-c skiing 1:59:31 [2] 15.9 km (7:31 / km) +224m 7:01 / km

The only super beautiful day of the week and also Sandra's birthday. Went for a short sleigh ride with the kids which was lots of fun.

After lunch went classic skiing and for the first time this week felt more energy (did I get over the bug and have "only" a sore throat and a cough left?) Did some classic skiing technique training mostly to learn how to push off with my calves again and get a glide. Felt so good, decide for a longer loop.

Met a blind person on the track who I had been guiding over 10 and 30 years ago in many visual impaired training camps. It was fun to chat and recognize each other. Lots of fun.

Downhill skiing 30:36 [3] 3.8 km (8:03 / km)

Skiing down with Lena on my back following Matti and Urs on the sled. We were careful and slow. Lots of fun for everybody!

Ski touring 1:26:21 [3] 3.39 km (25:27 / km) +370m 16:28 / km

Trying out my new backcountry equipment, going up to the Schatzalp where Sandra, Matti, Lena and Urs were waiting for me. I am glad I tried because I still had problems with the boots or the binding, Need to practice more.
Afterwards, rode down with Lena on my back following Matti and Urs on the sled. So much fun, Lena was squealing at times when she saw Matti. (We went down rather slowly as the road was fairly flat, just enough for the sled to go most of the time.
Down in Davos, on the bus with the kids and afterwards walk home. Everybody was happy and VERY tired!

Skateskiing 1:16:59 [2] 9.75 km (7:54 / km) +89m 7:33 / km

Really was not up to much, felt very tired and had no strength. Lots of stopping, had to take off the skis for the road crossings today. Also stopped to chat with Urs. So, there were faster splits and slower ones.
Did also some ski technique training and found out that my worse right knee/leg was actually stronger (due to all the PT I had?) than my left one. I'm not really pushing off and when gliding, I would not stand straight on the knee but having a X-position thus not standing straight on the ske but on the edges.
Enjoyed being out anyway, but was out of strength at the end.

Classic x-c skiing 1:30:20 [2] 10.96 km (8:15 / km) +91m 7:55 / km

In Davos with Sandra, Marc and the kids. Got out for some classic skiing after a 3-day-break because of work, kid-sitting and packing/driving.
Felt very tired all of a sudden and the air went out of me.
Also, I felt that my right knee was not stable at all, however, it seems to have recovered a bit from last Thursday's skateskiing-trauma.
The conditions were great, so much snow here and beautiful powder. Very fun to ski here after the bad conditions in the jura :-'/ (except right after it snowed and before it got too warm, and rain melted it all away).

Skateskiing 1:32:36 [3] 11.38 km (8:08 / km) +216m 7:26 / km

I thought that we had some new powder snow and was looking forward to nice tracks. Well, there was about 1 cm of powder which was nice to ski on for about 2/3 of the way. But the rest was pure ice mixed with grass, roots, rocks and pine cones on places where the wind had blown away all the snow which was uphill. I had a terrible time getting ahead. I really felt my knees and my right knee in particular. With the 50% or less meniscii left in my knees, I did not have the strength nor the knees to do it. It was tough and it hurt a lot afterwards. I hope I did not injure anything and need to rest for a while. We had a sunny day for a change, but up there I found clouds and wind :-/.

Running 51:41 [3] 5.64 km (9:10 / km) +163m 8:00 / km

Good day after some fresh snow (not much though) but it's colder, finally. Had to climb over 2 uprooted trees on the trail and there were lots of branches, too, which were blown down from the 2 storms of the last 2 days. It showed me that it was wise not to go into the woods then.
Extended my loop by appr. 600 m, hopefully can add a km in the end. Also chatted w a woman who thought I was brave to be in the forest today, but so was she!

Yoga 1:15:00 [2]

My second yoga class, I really like it, it has a good mix of vinyiasa yoga and meditation. Felt very much refreshed afterwards. A bd present to myself ;-)).

Running 1:11:49 [3] 7.92 km (9:04 / km) +129m 8:23 / km

Another exploratory run mostly on paved roads or grassy trails avoiding woods or trees. We're having a very strong wind- and rain storm, and it was quite dangerous going into the woods. Was so happy to find other trails/little roads to connect and to find to eventually get into the gorge of the Areuse. Also found a connection through the vineyards and over fields. Came home soaked, but had a good jacket to protect me from getting cold. (The jacket was not water-proof, but for a shorter run just perfect and kept me warm.)

Running 50:49 [3] 5.17 km (9:50 / km) +167m 8:28 / km

A quick run in the rain up in the woods exploring a little again and checking out possible connecting trails. First, a lot of uphill.

Classic x-c skiing 1:07:21 [2] 7.21 km (9:21 / km) +129m 8:35 / km

Tried classic x-c skiing from Tête-de-Ran but the tracks were glassy and lots of places the dirt came through. Lots of people out anyway.
Beautiful, warm day which is nice, but the snow situation in February is grim with this warmth.
It was Urs's first time out and went a few times with him as he had a hard time and the conditions made it hard on him on the downhills (he is a very safe and fast downhiller and was frustrated by the conditions and his "flimsy", light material ;-)).

Running 50:54 [3] 6.31 km (8:04 / km) +25m 7:55 / km

After 2 days in Interlaken (1 hard day at work, and 1/2 day visiting with friends), it was time to shake my legs a little bit. Every time I'm not running my right knee starts acting up more.
Slow start on a sunny and unseasonably warm afternoon with Urs to the Planeyse. We went the long way around it on/off being together or I was taking a longer route on a smaller trail. At the end did 2x 1 k on the woodchip track and felt better the longer I ran. Nice outing.

Yoga 1:20 [2]

Finally tried out a yoga lunch class in our town. It had a lot to do with Vinyiasa, and I think I will stick to that one for the semester.
In the evening, I felt sore muscles, mostly in my legs from holding the warrior and arms from stretching and holding my body in various positions. It also stretched my connecting tissue which I had done nothing about.
In fact, in class, I felt like a wreck: my right upper arm hurt from the injury years back, my back was in shock and my knees definitely had trouble with bending or being straight for a long time. But it must be stretched out again, so it will be good if I'm careful.

Running 56:12 [3] 6.99 km (8:02 / km) +74m 7:38 / km

Quick run after yoga class. It was SO warm!

Yoga 50:00 [1]

Tried an evening stretching and soft yoga class. It felt good and needed to do all that. I have really tightened up these last 3 years of "inactivity". But the class is really soft and slow, I'm not sure I want to pay for the semester.
12 PM

Running 43:48 [3] 4.87 km (8:59 / km) +142m 7:51 / km

First run back home again (Sat was travel day and Sun was a work day in Interlaken). It first felt strange to my leg muscles to run on trails in the woods and uphill! But it was a LOT more interesting than Florida running which was mostly flat. (Except the interesting trails were closed, that is, submerged from all the water)
It went better than expected and I think even with a faster time. Very surprised though.
