Just walking around the Vic Champs course taking photos, although carrying in a full container of water should rate higher than an Intensity of 1.

Finished off the Course 1 controls plus a few diversions. Renewed acquaintance with some of the dark green sections I had previously vowed never to enter again.

Finished checking the controls which I had not previously visited.
Chatted to a couple of gold prospectors who were working a gully near one of our controls. One showed me his winnings for the day. Quite an impressive collection of nuggets. The biggest was about the size of a 2" nail and a bit thicker. It was gold all right. He let me hold it and just for a moment gold fever struck and I contemplated my chances of making a dash. First time I've ever held a nugget of raw gold in my hands.

Checking courses for Vic Champs at Chewton Diggings.
Most of this was spent on course 1, with a few diversions plus extended stops at controls to check the synchronisation of the SI units placed in the field, remove tapes etc. . Also had a long stop to try to extract a 1cm stick which had skewered my left shoe. Couldn't remove it so had to break it off and completed the weekend with a stick embedded in the sole. Ouch! These are relatively new shoes. Soles are really too soft for this vegetation. Should stick to o-shoes.
Can talk about the courses now that the event has been completed.
Course 1 , and 2 and 3, on the first few legs offered a route choice of a direct route along a switch back road aptly known to the locals as "The Widow Maker". The alternatives offered more distance with less net climb. Of course as event controller I had to try the different routes!!! Idiot!!
Found one of the controls had been relocated but was still misplaced according to my copy of the course map. Left it where it was as I hadn't yet seen the printed maps and didn't know if it had been moved on the printed map.

No wind to speak of tonight - bliss. Possibly a pb or at least very close.
Lap 1. 1.00 km 5:48 western loop.
Lap 2. 1.01 km 5:51 northern loop.
Lap 3. 0.91 km 5:21 western loop.
Lap 4. 1.01 km 5:50 northern loop
Flat run. 2.08 km 11:38 run from Mound out to Green turn-off and back.

Warm down along Foreshore trail from Altona Mound car park to TTP and return. TTP has been bicycle riding and blames that for lack of running speed and fitness.

Altona Mound circuits.
Slowest start to a run for a while - straight into the head wind. It was strong but no stronger than for the last two runs. Ran the second and third laps at good pace but died on the fourth and then similarly slow on the flat

Lap 3. 0.91 km 5:25 western loop.
Lap 4. 1.01 km 6:17 northern loop
Flat run. 2.08 km 12:22 run from Mound out to Green turn-off and back.
