Federation Bike Trail
Skeleton Waterholes Creek-Western Outfall Sewer-
Leakes Rd and return.
First time on a bike since I broke my wrist. It let me know it had been broken. Pulse rate was a a bit disappointing. Even though I pedalled furiously my pulse rate stayed low. Not enough hills to make me work.
Stopped off at Laverton Lakes Park and rode around the tracks collecting GPS trace for Rob's latest Park map. Nice park. We must put a claim in to Wyndham Council to use this for Park Sprint competitions. Be even better if we got some rain and the lakes had water in them!

Mixed bag of jogging, shopping and walking retracing route looking for a lost fuel card.

Joined the "Tragics" at the Western Series Royal Park Street-O. Big crowd of strangers from the other Series.
Once again BK produced a map showing the Princes Hill School grounds as crossable. Once again they had not obtained permission to cross the school grounds. How many times they have to be told I do not know! And once again fast times were recorded by people illegally crossing Royal Parade at other than the underpass. The winner of "B" course even had the gall to display his route showing he had totally ignored the Underpass and had crossed Royal Parade illegally twice! I would have had a much faster time too if I had ignored the organiser's instructions to cross only via the Underpass.

We need a Code of Ethics for Street-O. The Western Series ethics need to be extended to the other Series. i.e. No running through private property, respect for non-orienteers' property, adherance to organiser's restrictions, crossing of roads legally and observance of traffic lights etc. (legal implications for orienteering)

Wetlands, after rain. Easy jog. Suffering from festival lassitude.

Brimbank Park Street-O
Christmas BBQ - a big turn out.
Probably too many for me to get a decent point score, but I felt like I had a good run. Pulse rate was in the target zone most of the time and only dropped in the downhill sections, bringing the average just below the target range.

Ran from Marysville up to Yellow Dog along the Tree Fern Track and back down the Steavensons Falls Road. Had to stop several times to climb over fallen trees - the track needs a bit of maintenance. However walking track maintenance is the least of concern for DSE and Parks Vic at the moment as they are all working long hours attending to the bushfires. We were up at Marysville to provide babysitting relief for sister/brother-in-law who work for Parks and DSE.
Stayed at Marylands Guesthouse in a Garden Spa Suite - very comfortable! It's nice to arrive to a bottle of champagne, chocolates and decanter of port in the room. Had a three course meal on Friday night with complimenrtary wines for each course. Saturday run was a bit of an effort!

Running 51:51 [2] 7.73 km (6:42 / km)

Didn't make it to any of the competitions tonight - was on my way but at 6:05pm the Dell technician called to replace the faulty screen on Fiona's notebook. Went running through the Drylands instead, very lethargic; blame it on the bushfire smoke.

Kingsville street-o. Really bad start - messed up the first three controls. Must have still been thinking about work.

Orienteering 21:16 [2] * 2.1 km (10:08 / km)
ahr:125 max:146

Warm down whilst collecting controls. Should count this as weights training as well - the bag of plates and chains was somewhat heavy.

Note
(rest day)

Don't care what anyone else thinks - it's been too hot and smokey to go outside this weekend. All the particulates in the air are a health hazard.
