COC'19 Long at Kidadapt, Rawdon, QC. Hot day again, but had 10:30 start. Ran M35 I knew the course was going to be too long (2hrs) based on yesterday. Things started badly when I left the start triange the wrong way. 1st couple went well because I knew the area from yesterday and perhaps got over confident. Then things started going bad at #4, #6, #7, #10 and #13. And not small mistakes - like 2 to 7 min mistakes. At #6 I was almost off the map and I'm sure there was unmapped stuff there.
I felt I still had gas in the tank, ran well, power on the hills all throughout, but was just sloppy. I think the slow running speed, low visibility plus 1:15k was making me misjudge distance and direction. I was taking for granted that I could navigate by topography (brown) and wasn't as cautious as yesterday.
Ended up second to Phillipe. Quite disappointing in result--haven't had a bad race like this in a long time. Perhaps overconfident.
