Road ride in the Frederick area. This was a loop starting from Cunningham Falls State Park with climb up Hamburg Road to top of Catoctin Mtn. This was a very hard climb of around 3 miles with average gradient of 6.2%. According to my Garmin 305 one section was 28% gradient but I'm not sure that's accurate. About 1/3 of the way up I caught a guy who had stopped to take off his head band because it was a so warm. We rode together for a short time which was way better than climbing alone. He had to take off from me because he was on a 60 mile loop. He was more prepared for the climb with 39 X 32 gearing. I am running 39 X 25 as my lowest gear which made this a real challenge. I did have to get off the bike and catch my breath once on the steepest part. I think I will look for a new cassette with lower gearing so I can do this kind of ride more easily. I made it to the top in about 24 minutes then back to park which was mostly downhill and wonderful!
Bike to work and home. The cold weather and heavier bike is taking a toll on my body. I'm really tired tonight. Especially after I did the P90X workout this evening.

P90X Chest and Back followed by Ab Ripper. Now I'm totally wiped out. Maybe I'm getting too old for this!
Bike to work and home. I'm back on the fully rigged cross bike with front and back lights, bell, cycle computer and glow in the dark, color changing wheel reflectors. It must weight about 35 pounds but I'm ready for anything!
