Event: QOC McKeldin

Cycling 45:00 [3] 12.1 mi (3:43 / mi)

Bike to the QOC Meet at McKeldin area of Patapsco State Park. NIce tail wind on the way that I'm not going to appreciate on the way back.

Orienteering race 1:51:08 [5] *** 5.4 km (20:35 / km) +210m 17:14 / km

Ran the Green course and very badly. I took some really bad routes and it was a very hot day, tough course with lots of steep climbing and well hidden controls. I could have done better and should have stayed on the paths more instead of trying to take shortcuts. One major mistake going from 8 to 9 where I guess I was holding the map wrong when I set-up the direction to run. I ran east when I should have gone straight south. At that I time I was hot, sweaty and thirsty so that probably contributed to the mistake. I was exhausted at the end and still had to ride home.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3] 12.1 mi (4:58 / mi)

Bike home from the meet. Much slower because of head wind and tired from the run.

Running 37:30 [3] 3.25 mi (11:32 / mi)

I'll probably regret this, but it's running day so I went out and did the regular run. Did make a concession and shortened it by 8 minutes.

Cycling 2:15:00 [3] 35.0 mi (3:51 / mi)

Road ride. Very hot and humid today but I got out early before it got too hot. I was taking it kind of easy on this ride.

Running 45:00 [3] 4.25 mi (10:35 / mi)

Long run in very hot and humid conditions. Andrew and I were really hurting at the end of this even though we did not really go very fast.

Hiking 5:32:00 [2] 13.6 mi (24:25 / mi)

Did a day hike on the Appalachian Trail from Weverton, MD to Gathland State Park. This was a out and back hike as I did not have a shuttle. This is considered a fairly easy section of the trail. Only big climb was from Weverton at the beginning of the hike. Great view from Weverton Cliffs overlooking the Potomac River. You're looking straight down on a very wide part of the river. Very impressive! A great day for a hike.

Running 40:00 [4] 3.85 mi (10:23 / mi)

It's a running day so after the hike Andrew and I did our run. I felt pretty good actually. I guess I was already warmed up!
