P90X Chest and Back workout. Lots of push-ups, pull-ups and rows. Very tough workout.

P90X 16:08 [5]

Abdominal workout after the Chest & Back and a 10 minute rest period. This was tougher than it has been when I had been doing at the end of the day.

Fast (for me) road ride with Mike and Chris. We headed out Rt 99 then Long Corner to Damascus Rd back over Brighton Dam. It was perfect day for a ride!

P90X Kenpo kickboxing workout. I really got into it today and worked up a good sweat. Great workout!

Abdominal / Core workout. I'm getting much better at this workout. I remember the first time I tried it I was totally lost and could not do even half the reps. Now I can get thru it all with no breaks.

First run in a few weeks. Hobbit's Glen-Swansfield route with one shortcut. I did not push it too much but this was still hard because of the heat and humidity.

P90X Legs & Back workout. Very tough workout that I have not done for two weeks. I got some heavier dumbbells so now can really work out the leg on the lunges.

We're getting our car out of the body shop today, so biked to work after I dropped off the rental car in Clarksville. Then got a flat while riding thru a construction zone. A big sliver of concrete debris pierced my tire. My current tires are pretty much shot and I already have Continental GatorSkin tires on order. I'll have to drive home today after picking up the car.

P90X Shoulder and Arms workout. Have not done this for several weeks so it was a great workout.

Bike to work today taking roundabout way home. I'm really enjoying these extra miles after work. It's a great way to wind down instead of going straight home.

P90X Abdominal workout after biking home from work. Tony Horton says you don't get a six pack from this workout - you get an eight-pack!

After the core abdominal workout I did a new workout using some resistance bands I bought for use when on the road or on vacation. The bands came with a workout on DVD that turned out to be not that great. There were a few good exercises but overall pretty lame. Mostly it just works the shoulders. I've used the bands already for P90X and they work great for that.

P90X Chest and Back routine. After taking an extra recovery week to recover from back and shoulder injuries I'm back into the resistance training and regular P90X routine. I had forgotten how tough this workout is. All push-ups, pull-ups and weights. I got thru it but was not able to do the same number of reps I was doing at the end of the first phase. I think it will take me a week to catch up again. I did not gain much weight over the week off. Only up about 2 lbs which is normal flunctuation for me.

Bike to work on a gorgeous day weatherwise. Took the long way home to get some extra miles.

Road ride this morning. Very nice weather today after a few rainy days. Temperature in the low 70s as I started out but then got warmer and more humid quickly. My back still hurting sometimes but only in certain positions. It seems to hurt the most when I set straight up so I spent a lot of time on the drops today.

College Park Bicycle fixed my seized bottom bracket in two days. This after the first bike shop I visited told me I had to send it to a frame builder. I guess having real mechanics makes all the difference.

P90X Core Synergistics. I skipped the "bonus round" at the end to try to save my back. It's a little sore now but that has been happening whenever I'm sitting around. I need to keep moving.

Bike to work and back. My back is still aching when I'm sitting around but once I get moving it's fine.

Finally got back to into working out. My back is feeling a lot better and shoulder/arm pain is mostly around the elbow/bicep now. Did the P90X Cardio-X to test the back. Got through it with no problem and feel OK now. We'll see how it is tomorrow. Plan to do P90X in the morning and ride bike to work tomorrow.

Not much improvement on the injuries today. However, I have to do something so will try biking to work tomorrow. Will avoid P90X for at least one more day. Maybe will back into that on Friday.

I need to take a few days off because my shoulder is not getting any better and now my back hurts, too. Hopefully both will heal within the week and I can back into the program. For now it will be complete rest.

Today is the Core Synergistics workout during the recovery week. Lots of core work, push-ups, cardio. Very tough workout.

Running 24:35 [5] 3.11 mi (7:54 / mi)

Did a 5K run after work. I thought I would go faster than this but the heat got to me. It was around 88 degrees with humidity off the charts. Still felt like this was a good run for me.

P90X Stretch routine. I think this helped my shoulder a little. This will be a recovery week for the program with no resistance training, so hopefully I can recover before I enter the final phase.

I had to take a day off from P90X Kenpo workout because of very sore shoulder. So went for long run instead. I felt like I was running pretty hard on this and I think this was my fastest time on this route.

Very intense Legs and Back workout this morning. I was really pushing myself to keep up today. Pull-ups are getting slightly better. Left shoulder still hurting. I'm hoping it will get better without rest but I doubt that will work. I may need to skip the P90X workout tomorrow and maybe just run. Can't go for a road ride because my bottom bracket is shot.

Started a treadmill run at the Athletic Club with a 10 minute warm-up then the 5K program at level 6 (8.5 MPH) and was going great coming down the first incline. This would probably have been the first time I would finish the program on level 6. Then my daughter shows up and tells me my wife has been in a car accident. She was not injured. She got rear-ended when she had to slow down for somebody who cut her off by turning left in front of her. Everybody loses except the person who did not yield the right-of-way. My wife's car had to be towed and the guy who rear ended her got cited. The rude left turner got off scot free. So now we're down to one car - it's a good thing I usually commute by bicycle.

Bike to work today on the road bike because I was running later than usual this morning. The road bike and route is about 15 minutes faster. My bottom bracket is ready to explode on the road bike so I have a new one on order from the UK via eBay.

P90X Back and Biceps workout in the morning. I think I strained my left shoulder during today's workout. It really hurts.

P90X Chest, Shoulders and Tricep workout. I was really tired today so probably did not have my best workout. There are some very hard moves in this workout. The 4 count push-ups are very difficult when combined with regulart speed push-ups.

Bike to work on a nice cool morning. I'm riding the mountain bike this week and going off-trail as much as possible. I'll be riding the pipeline right-of-way on the way home which is a long climb and will be a good fitness test.

Run on the treadmill on this rainy morning. I did 10 minutes warm-up then the 5K program on level 5. It was a lot easier then I remember it being the last time I ran this. I just breezed right thru it.
