Short but very intense ride at McKeldin area of Patapsco State Park. Lots of ups and down. Kevin and I called it day after one fast loop.

Back for more Mtn biking at Patapsco. Did the other side of river today which is more rocky then went back to other side for some of the same trails we did the day before. Great ride!

Another mountain biking ride. Getting a little better at the bike handling but still a few rough stretches. Just need to find my rhythm.

Back to the interval training to really whip us into shape. 2 minute warm-up run, then 10 intervals of 30 second sprint and 1 minute walk. Whew!

After the brutal interval training it's off to the gym to pump some iron. I feel the muscles repairing themselves as I type!

Work has been crazy and I've barely had time to workout let alone enter it into my log. This was upper body weight training.

Mountain Biking 1:40:00 [3]

This was first time mountain biking in probably 2 years. Went to Patapsco State park via Rockburn Park. Trails were a little muddy but not too bad. Trails seem to have shifted a lot since I was there last time. Either that or I just have a really bad memory! Great time, although I was taking it somewhat slowly until I get my confidence back. I need to learn how to just let it rip on the downhill. Best advice ever given to me is to "hold on and pray". Need to get out and do this more often.

Orienteering race 1:25:13 [5] 4.6 km (18:32 / km)

QOC Balls Bluff meeting in Leesburg, VA. I ran this event pretty well last year and this year all was going well until control 7. Got turned around and then had a hard time figuring out which trail I was on. This place has a lot of trails! Finally got going in right direction and found everything else fine. Made about an 18 minute mistake on that one.

Bad weather again today so did the 5 K program on the Cybex treadmill at gym. I started it off on level 6 out of 10, but had to reduce the speed about halfway through the program. I was decreasing / increasing the speed from 7.5 to 8.5 MPH. This program also throws in two inclines which makes it tougher to keep the pace.

Decided I'm going to bike to work even though there are no shower facilities in this new office. So what if I don't smell too good and have helmet hair? It's about 2.5 miles farther which means I'm getting more miles in and saving even more in gasoline!

One advantage - there is more room here so I can store my bike right by my desk.
