Road ride. Started off with nice weather then got hit with some rain all of a sudden around Tridelphia reservior. Rode out of the rain back to Columbia where of course it had not rained a drop. My lawn is just dead brown grass and hard as concrete. Really could use some rain.

Day 1/Week 7 of Couch to 5K Running Program. This week is all 5 min walk/25 min run. It was really humid for this morning's run. We've got a nice hilly loop set-up in the neighborhood that gets us back in almost exactly the right amount of time.

Day 3/Week 6 of running program. Today is 25 minutes straight of running after a 5 minute walk.

Road ride. Legs are still sore today from squats, but felt fine after getting out and warmed up.

Very quick ride around the neighborhood on the Trek mountain bike just to loosen up my legs. I did extra squats on Monday and my legs are really sore. This did not help much because they are still sore.

Short road ride after work. Did my "5 minute" time trial after climbing the hill on Tridelphia road. This is where I try to go from top of hill to the stop sign about 2.0 miles in 5 minutes. Have only done it once I think. Today's time was 5:12. Better than last time when I did a 5:45. It was kind of windy when I took off and actually I had wind with me for part of the ride which was fun.

Day 2/Week 5 of Couch to 5K running program with Andrew. Today is 5 min warm-up walk/8 min run/4 min walk/8 min run. I think we are progressing on schedule and will go to 20 minute run on Thursday.

Did laps at the pool. I'm not into swimming too much because it's so monotonous. But, it's a good workout so might as well log it.

Total body weight training. Andrew and I went "white-water" tubing on the Potomac today in Harpers Ferry. Not too many good rapids because the water level is so low. Still fun. We did find a nice little 3 foot drop rapid that I went on twice.

Day 1/Week 4 of Couch to 5K running program. Today it's 5 mi run/3 min walk/5 min run/3 min walk/5 min run. When Andrew saw the Tour de France riders's heart rate he was wondering what his heart rate is during the run, so he may try my heart rate monitor next time.

Great road ride. Kind of hot as I took off around 5PM, but then I went thru a very light rain in first part of ride and that cooled me off. Rest of the ride was great. I was just touring the back roads of Howard county, taking a very random route that I'm pretty sure I've never been on before.

Road ride. Not as tough as last night when I was in the weekly group ride, but still a good workout. Weather was overcast and some very light rain on part of the ride, but still really nice.

It's week 3/day 1 of Couch to 5K running program for my son and me. This week it's 3 minutes run/90 second walk/5 minute run/2.5 minute walk - repeat. It's the first week with more running than walking. This program designed for true couch potatoes, but it's a start. If we can get into a routine maybe will keep going with more advanced program in the fall.

Cycle home. Did not do the final hill thru the park, but still this course has its challenges with a number of short steep hills. Weather is absolutely perfect today - low 80s, light breeze and low humidity.

It's the second week of Couch to 5K running program that my son and I are doing. This week is 90 seconds run/90 seconds walk/3 minute run/3 minute walk - repeat. This is all preceded by 5 minute warm-up walk.
