P90X 58:00 [5]

P90X Plymometric-X. This was slightly easier than last week and I was able to pick up the pace and jump a little higher this week. I was using Amino Vital Performance drink full strength for this and should probably dilute this for next time.

Monday Jun 29, 2009 #

P90X 1:09:00 [5]

P90X Back and Chest workout. I don't feel like there was a lot of improvement over last Monday when I did this workout but it will take probably at least a month before I can really keep up with the crew on reps. There were a few exercises where I felt better than last week. Finish up with Ab workout which is extremely extreme! Day off from work today so no commuting by bike today.

Sunday Jun 28, 2009 #

P90X 1:00:00 [2]

P90X Stretch-X workout. This is the "rest day" workout for this program. It was a very good set of stretching exercises. I did this before my run and was very loose and ready to run.

Running 45:00 [4] 5.3 mi (8:29 / mi)

Run with Andrew. We went a lot farther today in our 45 minutes then last time. It was kind of cool but very humid.

Saturday Jun 27, 2009 #

P90X 58:30 [4]

P90X Kenpo-X workout. Another great workout that is basically Tae Bo or kick-boxing which I've done many times before. Lots of kicking which I need to work on to get the kicks higher.

Friday Jun 26, 2009 #

P90X 1:12:00 [5]

P90X Legs and Back. This is just a grueling workout of different types of squats, lunges and pull-ups. Followed that with the Ab Ripper-X workout which has abdominal exercises I've never seen or tried before. This was extremely hard workout.

Cycling 59:00 [3] 14.25 mi (4:08 / mi)

Bike to work today on the fixed gear bike.

Running 20:00 [5]

Today's a running day with Andrew and we had limited time so started up the intervals again. 12 intervals of 30 second sprint/60 second walk.

Thursday Jun 25, 2009 #

P90X 1:27:00 [4]

P90X Yoga-X workout. This yoga is the real deal. It hits all the yoga moves and then some. Great for flexibility, balance, strength. Also very relaxing. It was nice to have a slightly easier workout then the first 3 days of P90X. Tomorrow it's back and legs - I can only imagine how much pain that will be!

Cycling 1:00:00 [4] 14.25 mi (4:13 / mi)

Bike to work today. This is 20 days straight of pedaling to work! I never thought I could ride that many days in a row. I think it would feel strange to drive my car to work now. It just sits in the garage all week without burning a drop of gas.

Wednesday Jun 24, 2009 #

P90X 58:00 [5]

P90X workout - Shoulders and Arms. Another very tough workout consisting of super-sets for shoulders, biceps and triceps, repeat, rest then another set with 3 different exercises.

Cycling 58:00 [3] 14.25 mi (4:04 / mi)

Bike to and from work on the fixed gear again. Very nice weather.

Running 45:00 [4] 5.25 mi (8:34 / mi)

We added another 5 minutes to the evening run.

Tuesday Jun 23, 2009 #

P90X 56:30 [5]

P90X workout. Tuesday is Plyometrics-X or jump training. Holy cow it was really a tough workout. I could not match the reps or speed the first time around and was just dripping with sweat. I'm glad this is just once a week. I'm anxious to see how I do after a few weeks - will it get easier?

Cycling 58:00 [3] 14.25 mi (4:04 / mi)

A leisurely ride to work on the fixed gear bike after the brutal plymetrics training. Actually I find it only takes about a minute longer on the fixed gear bike then the bike with 24 gears. I guess when you don't have to worry about what gear to be in you can just pedal.

Monday Jun 22, 2009 #

P90X 53:52 [5]

First day of P90X. The Chest and Back workout is first up. This is 6 different push-ups, 3 types of pull-ups and 3 dumbbell exercises. You just do as many as you can during the countdown for each exercise. There are two rounds. It was a killer! The motto is "just do your best and forget the rest!". Yikes! 89 days to go on this program!

Cycling 58:00 [3] 14.25 mi (4:04 / mi)

Bike to work on the fixed gear bike. I intend to take my cross bike into the shop for some work this week and ride the fixie to work. I was worried about a short very steep hill on the way home but I made it up while almost coming to a standstill. I need to perfect my climbing technique on that hill.

Running 40:00 [4] 4.5 mi (8:53 / mi)

Run with Andrew after biking home and a short rest. I felt OK considering the workouts I've been thru today.

Sunday Jun 21, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Rest day to get ready for the first week of P90X starting tomorrow.

Saturday Jun 20, 2009 #

Running 40:00 [4] 4.5 mi (8:53 / mi)

Morning run with Andrew. It is another rainy day in Maryland.

Friday Jun 19, 2009 #

Cycling 58:00 [3] 14.25 mi (4:04 / mi)

Another day of cycling to work. I did not start the P90X program this morning because I was up very late on a conference call for work last night. Did not get to sleep until after 1:30 AM.

Thursday Jun 18, 2009 #

Cycling 58:00 [3] 14.5 mi (4:00 / mi)

Bike to work today. That's 15 days in a row! Three work weeks. Another rainy and cloudy day. There was a big T-Storm that hit us around 6:30 AM, but it cleared out and I was off for work. Then a huge downpour at noon. So, I managed to miss the rain today.

P90X 45:00 [5]

I'm starting the P90X home fitness program so did the fitness test after my ride home. I'll try to start the program tomorrow morning. This was a tough test where you do all the different exercises to failure. Push-ups, pull-ups, roman chair, curls, crunches, toe-touch to measure flexibility. I actually fell asleep for 30 minutes after the test I was so tired.

Running 40:00 [3] 4.5 mi (8:53 / mi)

After the P90X fitness test I was exhausted, but since the thunderstorm caused Andrew and I to miss our run this morning, we did our run this evening. Tough to get started but once I got warmed up I was OK. The run was a little slower than usual.

Wednesday Jun 17, 2009 #

Cycling 58:00 [3] 14.2 mi (4:05 / mi)

Bike to work on another gloomy day. It was a rainy day but it held off for my rides to and from.

Tuesday Jun 16, 2009 #

Running 35:00 [4] 4.25 mi (8:14 / mi)

Morning run with Andrew on the Hobbit's Glen-Swansfield course.

Cycling 57:30 [3] 14.2 mi (4:03 / mi)

Bike to and from work today. That 13 work-days in a row I've ridden to work. It was a gloomy day but the rain held off.

Monday Jun 15, 2009 #

Cycling 57:26 [3] 14.11 mi (4:04 / mi)

Bike to work today. Finally a day of nice weather!

Friday Jun 12, 2009 #

Running 35:00 [4] 4.15 mi (8:26 / mi)

Morning run with Andrew. These runs are getting harder because it seems we have been picking up the pace. Also, running first thing in the morning before eating I start running out of energy about half way thru. Need to get up earlier and drink a shake or something.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3] 15.0 mi (4:00 / mi)

Bike to work again today. The trees were cleared off the trail on the way home today. Not bad work to get all those trees cleared out after just 3 days.

Thursday Jun 11, 2009 #

Cycling 1:00:00 [3] 15.0 mi (4:00 / mi)

Bike to and from work. Took the longer route because my normal route is still blocked by downed trees.

Wednesday Jun 10, 2009 #

Running 35:00 [3] 4.25 mi (8:14 / mi)

Morning run with Andrew. We increased the time of the run from 30 to 35 minutes.

Cycling 57:00 [3] 15.0 mi (3:48 / mi)

Commute by bike to work today. I had to go over the trees on the way to work. Took alternate route home that does not have downed trees. Did not get rained on today!

Tuesday Jun 9, 2009 #

Cycling 57:00 [3] 14.5 mi (3:56 / mi)

Bike to work today. I had to wait out a big thunderstorm before leaving the office at around 5pm. This was a bad storm and brought down several trees onto the bike trails. I had to dismount 5 times and go over and around big trees on the way home. I was able to get home with just a light rain. Power is out all over Columbia tonight.

Monday Jun 8, 2009 #

Running 30:00 [4]

Morning run with Andrew. We were keeping a hot pace and were two minutes ahead of pace at what would have normally been the half way point. Took some detours on the way back to get in the full 30 minutes and end in front of the house.

Cycling 55:00 [3] 14.5 mi (3:48 / mi)

Pedal to and from work today. There was chance of T-Storms but they held off and it was very nice day.

Friday Jun 5, 2009 #

Cycling 55:00 [3] 15.5 mi (3:33 / mi)

A soggy commute to and from work today.

Thursday Jun 4, 2009 #

Cycling 55:00 [3] 14.5 mi (3:48 / mi)

Bike to and from work today. I could have used a light jacket on the way in this morning it was a bit cool and damp. But I did have my rain jacket for my ride home in a steady rain.

Wednesday Jun 3, 2009 #

Running 30:00 [4]

Morning run with Andrew. This was hard run for me because I had no energy. I did not eat enough after yesterday's biking marathon. It was a struggle to keep up with Andrew who is starting to get into shape.

Cycling 57:44 [3] 14.46 mi (4:00 / mi)

Bike to and from work today.

Tuesday Jun 2, 2009 #

Cycling 1:13:23 [3] 17.95 mi (4:05 / mi)

Bike to work and from work. Detour to the Columbia Gym for a studio cycling class on the way home. Very breezy with lots of traffic on the way to the gym. Very slow ride on final 2 miles home after the spinning class. I was seriously bonking after all that riding.

Cardio 1:00:00 [5]

Studio cycling. Bike to the gym, spin for an hour then bike home. Why not just go for a road ride after work? The studio cycling is much better cardio workout and I need to get into shape.

Monday Jun 1, 2009 #

Cycling 55:00 [3] 14.5 mi (3:48 / mi)
