Morning run - first for a while, and it wasn't dark when I set out! It was a big sky sunrise this morning - beautiful!
My run wasn't beautiful - it was slow and ploddy. I think I'm still recovering from last weekend's activity.

First run with the new orthotics, and they were reasonably comfortable. Neil and I ran together after work. This was a recovery run after our big weekend. Both of us had sore spots and stiffness that we needed to move.

This was a hard walk up Mount Bogong, on the staircase spur. we didn't get all the way because I ran out of energy just before the snow gums ended, so we got about 4/5ths of the way to the top. We were wading in fresh snow and fallen hoar 1.5 hours of the climb, so that slowed us down. The snow was up to a metre in depth in places. We were very lucky with the weather. It was fine and sometimes sunny, with hardly a breath of wind. The climb was mostly sheltered from the wind, or we were below it.

We walked up Mt Jack, to avoid the forecast 50km/hr winds on Bogong. This was a steady climb along a 4wd track to the top, where it was misty and snow-covered. Very beautiful & cold. It turned out that the strong winds were delayed. We'll try Bogong tomorrow....

The description says fartlek, but the run started with about 8 mins of warm up jogging, then I added 6 or 7 sprint sessions along the way, with jogging in between. It feels lovely to really stretch out with a sprint. I should do this on grass sometime.

Victorian relay event today on the re-mapped Wildflower Drive. I was the 2nd leg runner after Clare and before Ilka. I think this must have been Ilka's first experience of starting in the 2nd mass start. My run was messy with several of the controls. Enjoyed it a lot however, and then we had some control collecting to do afterwards.

Note

Got home early from work (I started this morning at 7am), so set off to do my 8 hills. Got through a warm up and started on the first hill, very slow - I was feeling very unsteady in the guts dept, and had to give up. jogged home.

Flexi day, so this was a daylight run in the morning!! Tough though, it's taking a long time to start enjoying running again. Visited a sports podiatrist in Melbourne today regarding my big toe - see comments in injuries.
