long slow run 1:46:00 [3] 16.0 km (6:38 / km) +300m 6:03 / km
weight:54kg shoes: nike

Long run with invis from No. 7 reservoir. Started at 7:14am, with the expectation of another hot day. It was very windy up on the range, coming from the northeast. At that time of day the wind was a comfortable temperature, but later, it was horrible gusty and hot.

Saturday Jan 30, 2010 #

run 29:51 [3] 5.5 km (5:26 / km)
shoes: nike

just a local trot around the dry bush.

Wednesday Jan 27, 2010 #

road bike 35:00 [3] 13.0 km (2:42 / km)

Used the bike only on the trip to work.

Tuesday Jan 26, 2010 #

run 26:05 [3] 4.54 km (5:45 / km)
ahr:141 shoes: nike

Short recovery run after yesterday's long ride. Felt a bit creaky and stiff. This didn't cease while running, only after I stopped.

rode to & from work 2:55:00 [3] 64.0 km (2:44 / km)

Rode to the station this morning, hopped on the train and then rode to the office. Rode to and from a meeting this afternoon, then decided to ride all the way home, when I left work early. It's a lovely ride; going past quite a lot of fruit trees with ripe plums & peaches. I didn't stop to eat on the way, because I was set on getting home, but there were a few locals taking advantage of the free fruit. There are some great long descents where you can get a good speed up, too. The ride itself is a lot of fun. I'm not used to riding that far, and unusually one of my feet hurt a lot in the second half of the ride. Must have been from inactivity because it resolved after I stopped riding and started walking.

Note

After gearing up and jogging for 3 minutes this morning, I turned around and walked home, having decided I wanted a rest day.

Friday Jan 22, 2010 #

rode to & from work 1:04:00 [3] 22.0 km (2:55 / km)

Left the backpack on the platform after getting on the train with my bike - that shows my real priorities - had a mad dash to get it, and only just squeezed into the train with a traveling companion stopping it from shutting me out. He accidently leaned on the emergency button, so the train was delayed - all my fault. Is there a lesson there?

Thursday Jan 21, 2010 #

rode to & from work 1:04:00 [2] 22.0 km (2:55 / km)

A warm day, but the riding was very good.

Tuesday Jan 19, 2010 #

rode to & from work 1:12:00 [2] 22.0 km (3:16 / km)

The ride today was a bit more pleasant than yesterday. Very glad to be wearing Evan's arm warmers this morning - it was chilly!

Monday Jan 18, 2010 #

rode to & from work 1:00:00 [3] 22.0 km (2:44 / km)

It was pretty windy today - so some of the ride was harder than normal (some was easier than usual too)

Sunday Jan 17, 2010 #

long slow run 1:38:16 [3] 15.0 km (6:33 / km) +234m 6:05 / km
ahr:142 max:170 shoes: nike

Marne route with Neil. At the summit trig point, there was a very brief shower, not enough to wet the ground, but there was something in it, because Neil was off - hit a higher pace and continued with it. Much cooler this morning after a change yesterday.

Saturday Jan 16, 2010 #

run 34:48 [3] 6.29 km (5:32 / km)
ahr:154 max:174 shoes: nike

Tried a slightly longer route this morning, following a new track made when the controlled burn was done in November. Managed to fit in 3 x 3min intervals, with 2min recoveries between. This was my first attempt at intervals this summer, and I felt quite good.

Thursday Jan 14, 2010 #

run 29:27 [3] 5.51 km (5:21 / km)
slept:6.0 weight:55.2kg shoes: nike

Morning run, not too early - which was nice, and felt good running. Realised at one stage that I'd been thinking so intensely about work, that I don't remember the exact route I ran. I like getting lost in thought....

Sunday Jan 10, 2010 #

long slow run 1:51:04 [3] 16.0 km (6:57 / km) +200m 6:32 / km
ahr:145 rhr:56 slept:7.0 weight:55kg shoes: nike

long run from outside the gate at No. 7 res. Saw Vincent waiting for Louise at the gate, and we decided to run the Mane route in reverse so we might see her. Well, that didn't work out, as Louise did the reverse route also. It was very warm, even at 7.30am. Buggered this afternoon - spending the rest of the day recovering!

Saturday Jan 9, 2010 #

run 29:53 [3] 5.58 km (5:21 / km)
ahr:157 rhr:64 slept:7.5 weight:55kg shoes: nike

Nice run as the sun was getting hotter (we're in for 40 c today). Used the GPS for about the 3rd time.

Friday Jan 8, 2010 #

rode to & from work 1:20:00 [3] 23.0 km (3:29 / km)

Rode the mountain bike because the little light number had a flattie. Another job for the weekend....The ride was harder than with flattie, and I took a detour home through the Stumpy Gully area (flattie won't take me there!)

Thursday Jan 7, 2010 #

run 31:16 [3] 5.5 km (5:41 / km)
shoes: nike

Early run this morning before work.

Tuesday Jan 5, 2010 #

rode to & from work 1:00:00 [2] 22.0 km (2:44 / km)

Monday Jan 4, 2010 #

rode to & from work 1:18:00 [2] 18.0 km (4:20 / km)

Rode the mountain bike between home and the station and station and work. The MTB is so much slower than the road bike.

Unspecified (bushwalking) 2:15:00 [1] 8.8 km (15:20 / km) +380m 12:37 / km

Walked up to the top of Cathedral Mtn, to do a bit of a traverse of the Cathedral range. The views across the Acheron Valley were excellent, and the course of the Feb09 fire was very obvious - the fire rushed up the NW slopes and almost stopped along the top of the Cathederal Range ridge. Terrain is very rough - I was tired.

Saturday Jan 2, 2010 #

long slow run 1:30:00 [3] 14.9 km (6:02 / km)
shoes: nike

Ran along the O'Shannesy aqueduct trail - which is Melbourne's version of hobart's pipeline track. Beautiful trail to run along. Could be a great route to add to the Rail Trail in the area, for cycling along.

Friday Jan 1, 2010 #

Unspecified (bushwakjing) 2:00:00 [1] 6.0 km (20:00 / km) +550m 13:43 / km

Walked on Mt Donna Buang, in the mist. It was beautiful. Caught 2 leeches, only one of which had stuck.
