orienteering 55:50 [3] 7.8 km (7:09 / km)

This was a fun event. Started at 8pm, and went for an hour, to give us a taste of twilight and night navigation. I had a ball- until I ran full speed (for me) into a thigh high rusty barbed wire fence and smacked into the ground. barked my elbows and lower thighs, and bruised a rib or two...broke my compass, and slowed down a lot....

Tuesday Oct 28, 2008 #

run 30:44 [4] 5.8 km (5:18 / km)

Local run after work - pushed a little harder than usual, but didn't feel up to doing intervals.

Sunday Oct 26, 2008 #

long slow run 1:53:58 [3] 16.85 km (6:46 / km) +250m 6:18 / km

Long slow run up the ridge to the trig point above Crusoe Reservoir, then down tracks to the res. This is the most scenic run around Bendigo - there are fantastic views from the ridge towards Lockwood and Mt Tarrangower. Finished up with sore feet - might need to buy new trail shoes for the Triple Top run in a couple of weeks.

orienteering 31:54 [3] 4.0 km (7:59 / km)

Local relay event on a new area near Junortoun. the map was a bit hard to follow because it was an aerial photo with contours drawn on top. However, it was good fun and lots of people stayed around later to find out who was on the winning team and catch up with others' news. It's almost the end of the season, so there are no more daytime Saturday events until next year. Looking forward to some night orienteering events coming up....

run 27:45 [3] 4.7 km (5:54 / km)

An early morning jog near home - a good way to start the day when I know there won't be much chance for exercise later.

orienteering 1:13:43 [5] **** 6.7 km (11:00 / km)

Victorian long distance championship event, on Chewton Diggings map. Generally pleased with my running, ran most of the hills during the course. Made a route choice error after the long leg, good course setting.

orienteering 58:32 [5] **** 5.8 km (10:06 / km)

Victorian Middle Distance Championship event. Silly me - ran the wrong course. I was entered in W35A, which was course 3, but thought it was course 2. Course 2 was for M21A, M35A, etc.

orienteering race 2:01:18 [3] ***** 6.0 km (20:13 / km)

Wow! what a complex area! I last orienteered here 14 years ago; I think I DNF'd and vowed to never return. This time, with a bit mopre experience, I took 2L water out, knowing that I was likely to be a long time. My course was only 4.8km in length, but the navigation was just sooo challenging! I was a long time out, but very glad to have finished.

orienteering 32:40 [3] *** 2.5 km (13:04 / km)

'Sprint ' event at Cantara Dunes. Great event and good use of a less complex part of the map.

orienteering 1:16:52 [4] *** 6.9 km (11:08 / km)

Lovely day at Sedgwick. Today we ran with the new SI gear that our club has purchased. A couple of people remarked on my good time and I was surprised, because I thought I ran slow and steady. Didn't realise until I got home that I'd forgotten to register my start , so it only timed me from the 1st control!

Wednesday Oct 1, 2008 #
