orienteering race

orienteering race (Aus Long CHamps) 48:29 [5] **** 4.92 km (9:51 / km)
shoes: Salomons

Aus long distance championship race. this was at Hill End, in terrain not unlike Bendigo's mining terrain. I was quite pleased with this run and came 2nd in W60A. I still dithered in the detail, and probably lost 4 - 5 mins overall. Came in nearly 8 mins behind Carolyn Jackson.

Note

I attended the orienteering event with Neil, but rested from running. I spent time walking around finding the best spot to make phone calls to my siblings. Probably walked 5kms up and down hills.

Bushwalk 2:30:00 [3] 7.5 km (20:00 / km)
shoes: Asic3000

We dove a fair way to the Glow Worm Tunnel and Wolgan valley look over trail. It was a loop that took the old rail and coach routes. Beautiful forest, very steep terrain, with soaring cliffs and some huge old trees. The trail was an easy angled moderate grade walk.

orienteering 1:43:03 [4] 9.17 km (11:14 / km)
shoes: Salomons

Public event which was tagged onto the schools individual competition today. I'd entered the women's A course (course 2, at 7.2km length). There were no spare maps for any shorter hard courses so I copped it. Took me absolutely ages to finish the course, and I nearly gave up at the spectator controls half way around, but stuck it out. Fell twice, but bounced. The terrain was spur gully native forest with scattered granite and lots of fallen trees all over the place which meant for slow running and a lot of high stepping.

Bushwalk 3:00:00 [3] 11.6 km (15:31 / km)
shoes: Asic3000

Bushwalking day, with Neil, Prue and Bruce. We drove to the Kanangra Boyd national park and went walking on the Kanangra Walls plateau. We missed the track we sought to follow, but ended up in an amazing huge cave/shelter which had a coal seam under sandstone, where we had lunch.
Finished the walking with some rambling around the Jenolan Caves area, mainly to get drinks.
There was some uphill and downhill walking which gave my knees a hard time. They were feeling all of 60!

orienteering race (Aus middle distance) 29:44 [3] 2.78 km (10:42 / km)
shoes: Salomons

Middle distance championship race today at Hill End. Terrain was very similar to Bendigo's Diamond Hill map. Pleased with my run today. Navigation was a bit messy near the end.

orienteering race (Aus sprint champs) 18:19 [3] 2.22 km (8:15 / km)
shoes: Asic3000

Sprint race around the Bathurst campus of Charles Sturt Uni. Got disoriented coming out of buildings on 2 Occassion s during the race. These errors cost me a place.
