Went to STep into Life very early this morning before work. Had an appointment after work, so this was the best way to get my run in today. My time trial distance was 6km and my time was about 29:30. Ran 4 laps of the lake chatting most of the way with Dillo. We stepped up the pace in the last 500m, so felt great when we stopped. Pleased with the time, under 5 mins/km.

Tough abs and arms workout tonight. It was cold, so we kept moving, did a lot of jogging reps (between strength sessions).

Ran, jogged and walked with Louise up to the Marne Trig point and then back down the diagonal track and finished with a loop of no. 7 res. This was part of the Step into Life running group's Sunday morning training program. Went for coffee and food afterwards with the group.

Orienteering in the Mandurang forest, which is really great for running through. Got my leg skewered by a fallen tree branch, and that hurt. Also stopped twice during my run; first to strip off a thermal underlayer (it was cold when I started) and then when I had to pee. Quite pleased with my time considering those delays.

Tough, tough, tough! Kooyoora has put up its dead wattle defense against us! I had to give up before finishing in order to get back to do my rostered duty.
My results wont appear on any formal lists because I started before the start box was available (thought I'd left myself enough time to get around the course).

Kooyoora; its been a while since Ive enjoyed your challenges, but you bushed me today. Navigation to the first 3 controls was ok, but then the 4th was difficult and I lost 10 mins finding it. The next leg took me over 24 minutes and most of the time I wasn't confident about where I was. The 6th leg wasn't long, but I miss read the features and got totally bamboozled. Looked at the watch and realised I'd been out for over an hour, so decided to abandon the course and head eastward for the assembly area. Disappointed - I used to be able to navigate at Kooyoora, hope I was just having an off-brain day.

Hiked from the cottage up to Boronia Peak, along the rocky ridge for 300m, then back.

Walked from the Buandik camp ground area southwest into the hollow mountain and red cave areas. Impressive rock formations and lots of bush bashing. The track was overgrown and many trees had fallen across it. We got a bit lost returning, we went too far west. Worked it out, and got back to the car at about 5pm.

Arrived at Step into Life to find a whole lot of balloons on the fence, flowers and a card etc from Judy, to celebrate my birthday. Lovely gesture! No keeping it secret! Had lots of FB wishes from my exercise buddies.
