Step into Life group 1:00:00 [3]

Tone up session was actually a fitness evaluation. Two km time trial took 9:03. Managed 14 full push ups in 1 min. Gotta get into practicing these.

I missed Step into Life tonight because I couldn't leave work on time. So I went for a jog with Neil instead.

Step into Life group 1:00:00 [3]

Powerflex, jogging to warm up, ball games, etc. then 30 mins of great stretching, abdominal strengthening and balance exercises. 3 mins of relaxation to finish up.

orienteering 2:00:00 [3] ** 11.0 km (10:55 / km)
shoes: Treksta Nestfit

The course I did was 5.3km straight line, but I missed one control. I took a friend from work who got a bit lost, and I ran her course backwards in a futile attempt to meet her after finishing my course. Fortunately she had her phone; when I called her, she wasn't sure where she was ( she was actually off the map). I ended up jogging an additional 2 km again trying to meet her. She walked back herself, which was a good outcome, and told me she had had a nice time, photographing flowers etc. So Krissy had an adventure today, and then I had one while driving her home. The car was getting progressively harder to change gear as we drove to orienteering, and it got worse on the way home. Couldn't get it into any gear and got stuck at an intersection. Krissy (who has a broken shoulder and can only use her left hand) had to steer the car ( no power steering) while I pushed it around the corner. Waited over an hour for the tow truck. Very glad I have racv membership - free towing to the depot and a free taxi ride home.

run 30:40 [3] 5.12 km (5:59 / km)
shoes: ASIC nimbus

Friday evening, after work. Ran up and down the creek, just a small jog, but that was all we could manage.

Step into Life group 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: ASIC nimbus

Cardio session tonight; it was very cold and I just didn't feel like going. Mick had us doing lots of jogging. Not many of us there and energy levels were quite low. Glad that I went , because otherwise I would have blobbed on the couch for that hour. The distance was guessed.

Step into Life group 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Red Asics

Got up early and went to the tone up session at 6:15am. I had a routine medical appointment at 9, so it was a good opportunity. Lots of. Upper limb and abdo work. Felt good at work all day; exercise before work is good that way.

MTB ride 4:00:00 [3] 51.51 km (4:40 / km)

Rode the bike to Axedale for lunch and back with friends from the Step into Life group. Beautiful day, good ride, nice company....

Step into Life group 1:25:00 [3] 5.0 km (17:00 / km)
shoes: Red Asics

Jogged 3.5km to Powerflex session at the lake, with Ilka. Powerflex included a lap of the lake (1.4km) followed by abdo work and stretches. Walked home after that.

orienteering 55:11 [4] *** 7.0 km (7:53 / km)
shoes: Treksta Nestfit

What a great day for orienteering! This was a club relay*event at Wildflower Drive, Strathfieldsaye. Mass start made me push myself and I was running at the back of the course 1 pack for most of the time. Still, I'm pleased with only a couple of minor navigational diversions; managed to run quite hard all the way.
*the teams are made up at the end: randomly drawn participants who did course 1, course 3 & course 4 were 'teamed up' and the team with the shortest total time won. The winning team members get to organize & set the event next year.

Step into Life group 1:00:00 [3]

Fartlek running session tonight, mixing up sprints, direction changes, longer intervals (2x400).

Tuesday Sep 9, 2014 #

run 31:46 [3] 4.92 km (6:27 / km)
shoes: ASIC nimbus

Went for a run after work. Quite a slow MacKenzie-Rowan circuit. Like orienteertiger, this was a wake-up-run. Unlike her, mine was less than 5km!

Sunday Sep 7, 2014 #

long slow run 1:10:14 [3] 12.2 km (5:45 / km)
shoes: ASIC nimbus

Training run with emphasis on building endurance. I aim to do one of these runs each week in preparation for Run from the Hills in November. Ran to Wesley St in Kangaroo Flat along MacKenzie, Helm etc, then back along the creek track.

Step into Life group 1:00:00 [3] 9.0 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Red Asics

Jogged & walked to the lake this morning with Ceira and we went to the 8am power flex session. There was some running involved, probably about 2.5km, and then we had our stretching / yoga / Pilates exercises. Lovely. Finished off with coffee and walked home.

Wednesday Sep 3, 2014 #

Step into Life group (Intervals) 1:00:00 [4] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Red Asics

Cardio session that mixed up lots of intervals. I guess you could call it a fartlek session which kept us on the oval. Included 2 x 800 timed intervals with sprints between. My 2nd 800 was 10 secs faster than the first. Pace: 4:30.

Step into Life group 1:00:00 [4]

First tone up session after 6 weeks off! Wow - triceps, biceps, abs all feeling pumped! My push up muscles have had a big holiday - back to work for you! It's was quite cold & wet, so this session, with core balls & weights was inside ( thankfully). Glad to be back.
